Watch Dirt Cars Take to the Asphalt

By RK Motors - Nov 10, 2017

There used to be a time where drivers could race their cars on both asphalt and dirt. Those days, however, are long gone (at least for most divisions) and cars are specialized toward one surface versus the other.

That’s why it’s always entertaining to see a car that is specialized for one surface try the other.  We’ve seen asphalt cars try to adapt to the slick surfaces of the dirt while sliding and spinning.  But what happens when a dirt car that is used to driving on a surface without any grip suddenly has a whole bunch with which to work?  These two videos give us a pretty good indication.

Thanks to the wonder that is YouTube we found this dirt Late Model testing at Roseville (CA) Speedway and this dirt Modified at Owosso Speedway in Michigan. Those poor tires didn’t stand a chance…and unfortunately, the Modified met an untimely end to its asphalt days.
