Finale Speed Debuts Carbon Fiber 1969 Chevy Camaro Called Viral

By Rhian Hunt - Jan 25, 2023

A 1969 Chevy Camaro named the Viral and produced from exposed-weave carbon fiber is getting its public debut at the late-January 2023 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The production-ready Camaro Viral is produced by custom automobile company Finale Speed of Yukon, Oklahoma. The Viral is Finale’s second model after its Carbon Fiber 1970 Dodge Charger or “Carbon Charger.”

The 1969 Chevy Camaro Viral requires 3,000 hours to build and includes updated materials and features in the classically-sculptured body style of the first-gen 1969 Camaro. The black exterior shows the carbon fiber weave texture under a glossy coat of BASF Glasurit clear lacquer. The rigid, tough outer body is produced from prepreg (strengthened with epoxy resin pre-impregnation) carbon fiber cured in an autoclave.

Modern LED lighting, flush-mount windows, billet hinges and handles, and 18-inch Forgeline wheels round out the exterior treatment of the Camaro Viral. Exterior options include carbon fiber wheels for $12,000, candy paint for $10,000, and a stripe package priced at $5,500.

The interior of the Chevy Camaro Viral receives an equally premium treatment blending original styling touches and modern materials. Classic Instruments gauges are set in a dash wrapped in suede-soft but extremely durable Alcantara synthetic textile, a material also used on the door panels and for the headliner.

With a carbon fiber seat delete, the Viral seats two, and the cabin also features a four-point roll bar. A leather-wrapped aluminum steering wheel and VXR seats round out the cabin.

Underneath the classic lines and high-tech materials used in the body of the custom 1969 Chevy Camaro lies GM’s supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 crate engine suppliying 650 horsepower. Exhaust flows through dual 2.5-inch mandrel-bent stainless custom headers with a MagnaFlow muffler providing the exhaust note.

The car has a standard Tremec T56 Super Magnum six-speed manual transmission, with an unspecified optional automatic transmission available for $7,500.

Finale Speed offers the 1969 Chevy Camaro Viral both as a roller body and as a complete turnkey vehicle. The latter is priced to start at $429,000. It is making its debut at the WestWorld equestrian and car show venue in Scottsdale during the Barrett-Jackson auction, which runs from January 21st to January 29th, 2023.
