Over 4,000 Abandoned Classics That Will Blow Your Mind!

Old Car City USA isn’t what you think, but it’s most certainly a place every hot rodder should visit.

When you see a collection like this, sitting abandoned in the elements, you imagine there's some eccentric hermit hoarding cars and watching over them with a shotgun to dissuade trespassers. Well, that's not the case here, not even close. This here is a place called Old Car City, USA, and it's not what you'd expect.

First of all, it's been around since 1931, and has over 4,000 cars covering more than 30 acres. The owner is Dean Lewis and this isn't a salvage yard. Sure, Lewis will still sell you a part or even a car, but since it will mess up his art project, don't expect to get a bargain. Instead this is a place to watch nature and automotive history come together. It's paradise for those that love patina, and a photographer's dream. At one time, this was a working salvage yard, but now it's evolved into something more.

Most hoards like this are kept away from the public, but Lewis will let you walk the massive collection for a few bucks, and for a few bucks more you can bring your camera. HOT ROD visited here in 2014, so we were curious to see if it was still chugging along. We're happy to report it's still there and just as cool as ever. We have to admit that the place has us a bit conflicted, however—one part of us wants to go in there and start saving as many classic rides as possible, but the other side loves checking out the artistic beauty of the cars and various vehicles being slowly consumed by nature. While walking through the maze of automotive history, we were both captivated and saddened. Mustangs, Camaros, and even a Superbird can be found if you look around long enough. No matter how this place makes you feel, it's a bucket-list item every hot rodder should visit if possible.
