Is the Toyota Supra set for a Goodwood Festival of Speed Debut?

Toyota reached to Twitter to tease the launch of the new Supra

If Toyota Europe’s Twitter feed holds true, it looks like we’ll see the next-generation Toyota Supra make an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Toyota will stick with its Supra chassis designations -- this BMW- and Toyota-developed Supra will carry the A90 name internally -- building on a history of Supras before it.

The Supra will likely sport a 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Pleasing Supra fans, that power will still be fed to the rear wheels, but there are rumors of a hybrid driveline feeding power to all four wheels, which wouldn’t be impossible considering Toyota electrification prowess.

As for power, we’re expecting the straight-six powered Supras to make over 320 hp, which should move the reportedly 3,284 lb sports car around with ease. Of course, that might disappoint folks used to 1,000+ hp modified Supras, but let’s not forget that the legendary A80 only had 320 hp when it reached American shores. There will also likely be a four-cylinder engine available for base models.

However, all of these figures and ideas are total speculation until Toyota rips the sheet of the next Supra, which could be happening sooner rather than later. The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place in just over a week, so we'll find out soon enough.
