All RK Motors classics receive a comprehensive, Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection that is performed by ASE Certified Master Technicians at the RKM Performance Center. As a dedicated group of enthusiasts, our goal is to help our customers make informed decisions on whatever car they desire. As an organization, we have the talent and ability to identify potential mechanical issues and, if the purchaser sees fit, remedy those issues and solidify their investment. What’s included in the Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection?

DRIVABILITY

We know our customers like to enjoy their cars, so our number one priority is making sure the classics we sell offer a proper driving experience. In the Drivability phase, RKM Performance Center technicians examine the car to provide an overall picture on reliability, safety and performance.

  • Ensure the car’s engine starts, idles and runs properly
  • Check the operation of the car’s transmission
  • Check the car’s engine and transmission seals and gaskets for major leaks
  • Check the condition of the car’s drive belt(s)
  • Check to see if the car’s cooling fan operates
  • Check the car’s antifreeze protection and top-off oil and coolant
  • Check and top-off the car’s transmission and differential fluids
  • Check the car’s driveline and tires for vibrations
  • Check the car’s alignment (if a pull is present)
  • Check and top-off the car’s power steering fluid (if equipped)
  • Inspect the car’s axle bearings and seals for wear and leaks
  • Check the car’s bushings and joints for wear
  • Grease all points equipped with grease fittings
  • See if the car’s steering wheel is centered while driving
Drive check

Suspension

The next phase of the inspection dives a bit deeper in to the car’s structure. Suspension systems are often the most overlooked aspect of vehicle performance and safety. A fun classic always begins with a solid foundation.

  • Check the condition of the car’s undercarriage
  • Check to see if all suspension components are in place
  • Inspect all shocks for leaks
  • Check the torque on all fasteners

Brakes

Braking is one of the best places to spend money when building a high performance car. Whether it’s vintage, vacuum-activated drums or huge, power-assisted discs, we’ll make sure your classic’s brakes are fully operational, free from major leaks and ready to hit the road. We’ll also take this opportunity to inspect wheels and tires for any kind of damage or irregular wear.

  • Check the condition of the car’s brake pads/shoes
  • Check the level and condition of the car’s brake fluid
  • Check emergency brake operation (if equipped)
  • Check the brake system for leaks
  • Check to see if the car’s brakes function properly with no pull
  • Check the condition of the car’s tires and set tire pressure

Fuel System

As anyone who’s owned a vintage car knows, maintaining a leak-free fuel system is essential to performance and safety. In this phase of the Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection, our technicians will ensure your classic keeps the octane where it matters.

  • Check to see that a gas cap is present and operational
  • Check the car’s fuel system for leaks

Electrical

You can’t have fire unless you have spark, so the next phase of the Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection deals with the essential components of the car’s electrical system.

  • Check to see if the car’s battery passes a load test
  • Inspect the car’s battery cables
  • Check to see if the car’s alternator is working properly

Exhaust

The experience of enjoying, or, unfortunately, not enjoying a classic often involves the sounds the car makes. The ASE Certified techs at the RKM Performance Center will ensure our cars make all the right noises and, in the process, chokes us up with pride instead of fumes.

  • Inspect the condition of the car’s exhaust system

Exterior

Turning heads is one of the many reasons folks invest in classic cars. In general, the exterior of a car provides considerable insight in to its overall condition and quality. In this phase of our Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection, RKM Performance Center techs inspect common problem areas that might inhibit the basic function and appearance of any vehicle.

  • Check the body of the car for noticeable flaws
  • Check to see if the car’s doors open and close properly
  • Check to see if the car’s windows go up and down properly (if equipped)
  • Check to see if the car’s hood and trunk latches function properly
  • Check the car’s convertible top operation (if equipped)
  • Check the car’s headlamps, turn signals, brake lights and reverse lamps
  • Check the car’s marker lamps and tag light (if equipped)
  • Check the condition and functionality of the car’s wiper motor (if equipped)
  • Check the condition of the car’s wiper blades (if equipped)
Exterior check

Interior

With looks, power and performance out of the way, the final phase of our Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection is the interior. It's where folks spend the most time enjoying their classics, so it makes a lot of sense to go the extra mile to identify potentially troublesome and nerve-racking problems.

  • Check the interior of the car for noticeable flaws
  • See if the car’s heater, A/C and blower fan function properly (if equipped)
  • Check the car’s gauges for proper operation
  • Check the function of all power outlets (if equipped)
  • Check to see if the car’s driver’s seat adjusts properly
  • See if the car’s front seatbelts work properly (if equipped)
  • Check to see if the car’s door handles function properly
  • Check the operation of the car’s courtesy lamps (if equipped)
  • Check to see if the car’s horn operates (if equipped)
  • Check the functionality of the car’s radio
  • Check the functionality of the car’s clock
  • Check to see if the car has a spare tire, jack and appropriate tools
