When most people think of an SUV, they picture something tall, large and sturdy with just enough style to appeal to a wide range of drivers. The Durango hits all these points on the nose. Taller panels and a commanding front end give this Dodge a strong presence that manages to avoid blending in with everything else in the parking lot. A smooth factory-shot coat of Mineral Gray tops those panels, looking showroom fresh. Two white hash marks outlined in red adorn the fenders, nodding to this Durango's “R/T” distinction. As a low-mileage late-model vehicle, the body is free of any noteworthy flaws. Thanks to modern production methods, panel fitment is excellent as is overall fit and finish. The days of visible factory flaws are definitely behind us.

Take a closer look and you'll find a number of small details that separate the Durango R/T from its competitors. Up front, the wide four-section grille is immediately recognizable. Framed by aggressively shaped headlights, there is no mistaking that this is a sibling of the Dodge Charger. At the bottom, fog lights and a matching lower grille insert round out the front end. At the sides, “Hemi” badges let other road-goers know this is no V6-powered grocery getter. There are no awkward rub strips or trim pieces breaking up the clean lines – just a smooth shape that looks slightly more refined than many other vehicles in its class. At the back end, sculpted taillights flow nicely into the body lines while dual exhaust tips and an R/T badge continue the performance theme.

Of course, there's only one question that comes to mind with any Mopar – Does it have a Hemi? In the case of this R/T, it most certainly does. While not quite as brutal as the 426 that immediately springs to mind, the updated 5.7L Hemi V8 is an award-winning motor with a great mix of old school power and modern technology. Though the engine is completely stock, it churns out 360 horsepower while delivering approximately 20mpg in real world driving. Not bad for a truck with a 7,100lb towing capacity. To get that kind of economy out of the Durango, Dodge engineers turned to a Multi-Displacement System (MDS) and Variable Valve Timing (VVT). Combined, those systems allow the truck to alternate between four and eight cylinders, only supplying the extra power when absolutely needed. The systems work seamlessly and, when you hit the loud pedal hard enough, the 5.7L bellows out an exhaust note that is undeniably Hemi. With only 13,872 miles on the clock, this engine is just getting broken in!

Peek underneath and you'll find a chassis that proudly displays its low mileage. The undercarriage remains clean and free of any visible issues. In the center, a six-speed automatic transmission further aids fuel economy, applying power to the road through a beefy differential equipped with 3.45 gears. Good for highway driving, towing and surprisingly fun in a good old-fashioned launch, the gear is well-suited to nearly anything you might put this Durango through. Around the drivetrain, the unmodified suspension consists of unequal length double wishbones up front and a multi-link rear. The combination provides a comfortable ride and adequate off-road capabilities should you need to step off the beaten path. Naturally, steering is power assisted as are the brakes which utilize four-wheel discs and an anti-lock brake system. At the corners, tough looking 20-inch factory wheels are wrapped in fresh Kumho rubber.

Chances are, if you're looking at an SUV, you probably need to carry people, things or some combination of both. No matter what the case, this Dodge will come through with flying colors. The black leather interior is showroom-new and utilizes a 2-3-2 seating system. That means you and six of your closest friends can hit the highway in comfort. Amenities include a premium stereo with satellite navigation, heated front seats, multiple-zone climate control and steering controls to operate nearly all of it. If people-moving isn't the goal, push the back seats down and watch 84.5 cubic feet of interior space open up. Dodge claims the Durango has enough space to accommodate a 6ft couch! With a tasteful array of brushed aluminum and chrome throughout the cabin, the interior walks the line between luxury and utility perfectly. As a practically new vehicle, all soft surfaces from the carpet up look showroom clean.

Documentation for this Durango R/T includes the dealer invoice outlined above, an original window sticker and all associated manuals and booklets.

Dealership fresh and ready for years of enjoyment, this 2012 Durango R/T is the perfect answer for any Mopar fan looking to move forward with an eye towards the muscle car era. With just 13,872 miles, a long list of amenities and a mighty Hemi under the hood, there are simply no compromises to be found. If you're ready to upgrade your daily driver, don't miss this Dodge!
