Baptized on the back roads of Blacksburg, Virginia, and spending its entire life tearing up the Appalachian countryside, this super rare Ford pony car has been a part of the same dedicated family for over 23 years. In the fall of 2011 its rock solid body was the beneficiary of a concours style, rotisserie restoration that created a virtually flawless canvas for a correct and glossy coat of Raven Black urethane. And today, the car sits as a classic collection of smooth panels, perfectly ridged character lines and narrow body gaps that presents a better-than-factory appearance. If you're a blue oval fan who's looking for a thrilling muscle car that can be shown AND enjoyed, this GT coupe is your ticket!

It's obvious that Ford has always sweated the details on the Mustang; and with its completely new brightwork and bolt-on pieces, this car presents a finished, high quality appearance that goes far beyond its nice paint and fresh white decals. Up front, a forward tilted grille hangs a pristine, corralled pony and intricately detailed fog lights between wide-set parking lights, a show-worthy chrome bumper and deep set headlights that cap aggressive, ridged fenders. At the top of that grille, a scalloped hood props a bright “FORD” script and small turn signal indicators in front of like-new glass, bright stainless trim and dulled stainless wipers. At the sides of that hood, traditional Mustang “GT” emblems perfectly complement arrow-straight rocker guards, new stainless fender trim, fresh Ford door handles and a chrome driver's mirror. And the back of the car, a stainless-trimmed valence hangs segmented tail lights and a highly detailed GT fuel filler between a centered “MUSTANG” decklid script, a second show-worthy chrome bumper, chrome-trimmed reverse lamps and quad-outlet stainless exhaust tips.

Fortunately this sinister coupe is a lot more than just a pretty body. Under the car's sculpted black hood you'll find a big 390 cubic inch FE V8 that's been bored .030 over, fully balanced and completely rebuilt to correct factory specifications. As one of the hottest Mustang mills ever created, this highly regarded 4V block cranks out a conservatively rated 320 horsepower and runs every bit as good as its brilliant Ford Blue paint suggests. At the top of the big engine a correct Holley 735 4-barrel rides under a correct, chrome topped air cleaner that sucks fresh air through a grated, Ford Blue base. Below that air cleaner, bright chrome valve covers sit at the sides of a reproduction Autolite coil which sends spark through a traditional points distributor and fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Below those plug wires, hardened valve seats and custom-order, Ford spec pistons combine with fully restored exhaust manifolds to send spent gases into high performance, true dual pipes. And in front of those manifolds, a correctly tagged, satin black radiator circulates water through fresh FoMoCo hoses and high quality, reproduction tower clamps. As you can see, this Ford's spotless engine bay has been carefully sprayed in a smooth coat of satin black paint. All the motor's proper ancillary components, from its fresh power brake booster and tagged Autolite Sta-Ful battery to its correct Ford washer fluid bag and new stainless fuel lines, are present and accounted for. And this awesome Mustang, which is every bit as fast and potent as it was 45 years ago, is ready to hit the street or the show field as soon as it rolls out of our RK Motors Charlotte showroom!

Naturally, the bottom of this clean and uber impressive GT has been restored to the same high standards as its exterior and engine compartment. Behind the first-class Ford block, a tough Toploader 4-speed wide ratio transmission drives a durable Ford nine inch rear end that's equipped with solid 3.00 gears. Holding that versatile drivetrain off the ground is a correctly detailed independent front and solid axle rear suspension that's been completely restored with new, OEM-grade equipment. Above that suspension red floor pans appear new, show absolutely no signs of rust or weathering and wear a lot of Raven Black overspray, just as the car would have left the factory. And at the ends of that suspension, a traditional manual steering rack combines with optional power front disc and rear drum brakes, which receive fluid through new stainless lines, to make both turning and stopping an absolute cinch. In the middle of the car's floors, a fresh and accurately duplicated dual exhaust system sends spent gas from stock cast iron manifolds to a curved H-pipe crossover, correct intermediate resonators and a powerful, vintage sounding muffler. Behind those floors, a new stainless steel fuel tank ensures years of reliable cruising. And at the edges of those floors, power flows to the ground through a sweet combination of 14 inch styled steel wheels, correct F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval white sidewall tires and bright blue Mustang center caps.

Open the door to this pristine classic and you'll find a fully restored cockpit which mixes the best elements of Ford's Deluxe Interior Package with new black vinyl that provides an exceptionally attractive starting point. The car's Black Décor front buckets, and one of one standard rear bench, wear fresh, pleated covers between two piece lap belts and new chrome hardware. In front of those seats a like-new, dual cowl dash looks like it came straight out of the box yesterday morning. Inside that dash a bright silver instrument panel holds a full assortment of fully rebuilt gauges above new chrome knobs for the car's accessories and a correct AM radio. And below that dash, a stylish black and silver console props a traditional chrome shifter on a sea of new black carpet. In front of the driver, a gorgeous wood-rimmed steering wheel spins three chrome spokes around a Mustang branded centerpiece. At the sides of the passenger's, layered door panels feature pristine stainless trim, clean silver inserts and new chrome handles. And behind the cabin, a spotless black trunk hangs a correct lid decal above an attractive plaid mat and a full-size spare tire.

This Mustang's show history is extensive, and its list of awards is extremely impressive:

* One time winner of the Mustang Club of America Concours Trailered Gold award
* Two time winner of the Mustang Club of America Concours Trailered Silver award
* One time winner of the Mustang Club of America Best Paint award
* One time winner of the Mustang Club of America Sponsor's Choice award

The sale of this awesome, investment grade pony car includes an original build sheet, the deluxe Marti report outlined above and judging sheets for both the car's MCA Concours Trailered Silver awards.
