Description

You already know that RK Motors Charlotte has a thing for Chevrolet's most famous muscle car. From their long list of options and stacks of documentation to their hundreds of cubic inches of big block bliss, we've brought you some of the most mind-blowing, potent and flat-out brutal Chevelles the market has ever seen! And from the insane ZZ502 convertible we featured last month, to the rare Flint car we featured a few weeks ago and the cool Malibu coupe we featured a few days ago, we continue to be your number one source for anything that starts with the letters C, H, E and V. After all, what's not to love about a classic that defines the dominant era of Chevrolet ingenuity, showcases an unparalleled era in American culture and represents the best era of Detroit's manufacturing might? Absolutely nothing; and that's why this striking '67 Chevelle coupe, with its 468 cubic inch V8, tweaked air suspension and completely custom interior, is the perfect piece for the muscle car fan who wants the best of absolutely everything!

The beneficiary of a professional frame-off restoration that was completed in June of 2012, this slick Chevy hardtop features a seamless custom appearance that's highlighted by an immaculate coat of mirror-like paint. Now, we all know it isn't easy to perfect a body that's going to be dipped in jet-black pigment. And that difficulty doubles when said black pigment is pretty much the ONLY thing prospective admirers have to focus on. But no worries here; just take one look down the sides of this Chevelle's rock-solid body and it becomes obvious that great care was taken to ensure every panel is aligned to better-than-factory fit. Step closer to the car's hypnotic finish and check out its straight and ripple-free surfaces which are a product of both rust-free sheetmetal and high quality prep work. Grab the car's well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it closes to provide an excellent fit which is set off by a precise gaps and a glossy clearcoat shell. Now, step back and watch it all add up to one very well-done pro-tourer which is built to exacting specifications and features a great combination of skilled workmanship and first-rate detailing.

The key to creating a world class custom is building a car that, even though it looks virtually seamless, actually contains many labor-intensive modifications. Take this foreboding Chevelle, for example. At the front of the car, a satin black grille hangs modern halogen headlights above a modified, and satin-painted, bumper that's complete with bright LED marker lamps. At the sides of the car, shaved fender emblems and a distinct lack of brightwork hint at a serious personality while monochromatic door hardware and a satin black bowtie mirror cover the bases of both necessity and style. At the top of the car, a black-trimmed Super Sport hood leads the eye to tinted glass that's traced by blacked out drip rails, body-matched trim and painted stainless wipers. And at the back of the car, a clean and glossy valence hangs slick LED tail lights above a second massaged bumper.

The Chevrolet division has always represented performance to a virtual army of car guys. But unlike their luxuriously smooth Impala brethren, Chevelles manifests that performance as raw attitude and brute force. Lift the hood of this sinister pro-tourer and you'll find a 468 cubic inch big block V8 which makes killer power and produces the kind of throaty growls that elicit an immediate 'deer in the headlights' look. That growl originates when wind whips from a custom, body-matched air cleaner into a coated Edelbrock carburetor and gets infused with dead dinosaurs that are piped through fresh stainless fuel lines and a chrome mechanical fuel pump. The resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from a black Edelbrock Performer intake to large, free-breathing heads that are topped with a slick pair of polished aluminum valve covers. Once the juice hits the cylinders, a familiar HEI distributor sends fire through loomed MSD Street Fire plug wires while spent gases exit through coated Hooker Competition headers. Cooling for that fire is provided by a polished aluminum radiator that's equipped with a large electric puller fan and a small chrome overflow tank. Fluid for that cooling system is provided by a chrome Edelbrock water pump which, along with a chrome Powermaster alternator and a chrome AC compressor, is spun by an aesthetically pleasing serpentine system. And the car's engine compartment is exceptionally clean, centering its solid black block between a body-matched firewall, glossy inner fenders and details like a chrome master cylinder, a modern power steering pump and bright top-end accessories.

Back in 1967, the standard form of power transfer on showroom-new Chevelles was a tough Muncie 4-speed. And the more things change, the more they stay the same as this 21st century A-Body kicks into go-mode thanks to a rugged M22 Rock Crusher. As you can probably tell from our pictures, that proven pebble pounder is suspended by a fully rebuilt chassis that's fitted with fresh air bags, modern power steering, a traditional 12 bolt rear end and giant drilled and slotted rotors that are seized by bright red calipers. Exhaust rolls from the big Hooker long-tube headers into aluminized true dual pipes that are complete with aggressive dual chamber mufflers and rear-mounted turn outs. And putting the power to the pavement is a slick set of Boss Motorsports 338s which spin 235/40ZR18 front and 275/35ZR20 rear Nexen N7000 radials around chrome lug nuts and SuperFinish lips. The bottom of this shiny Chevy is over-restored to the same high standards as its solid exterior panels and clean engine compartment. And accordingly, a full array of finishing components, which include a new stainless fuel tank, new stainless fuel and brake lines and a full set of spotless stainless hardware, is markedly present and entirely accounted for.

Inside this stunning Chevelle you'll find a completely custom interior that's tight, technological and in excellent condition. The firm seats, modern units that have been swiped from a donor car and recovered in faux ostrich skin, feel comfortable enough to spend a sunny afternoon in. At the front of those seats, a custom dash hangs a sweet set of Auto Meter American Muscle gauges above a control panel for the car's Nostalgic Air Parts air conditioning and a bright screen for the car's Power Acoustik CD/DVD/Navigation system. At the base of that dash, a custom black console props a leather-booted Hurst shifter in front of four power window switches and a small leather armrest. At the bottom of that console, premium black carpet flows toward custom kick panels that hold a natural combination of small tweeters and Vibe speakers. At the sides of that carpet, custom door panels frame traditional armrests behind trick billet door handles. And above those door panels, a custom headliner stretches all the way back to custom-covered sail panels and a speaker-equipped package tray. In front of the driver a chrome tilt steering column, which is complete with a full set of billet stalks, prominently displays a custom chrome steering wheel. And behind the passengers, a fully-finished trunk features more premium carpet, more custom paneling and two large Vibe amplifiers.

In case you were wondering, the sale of this blacked-out pro-tourer includes an original cowl tag, a small stack of component manuals and a basic wiring diagram.

In summary, this '67 Chevelle represents creative engineering at its very finest, combining stunning design and execution with no-excuses, no-limits performance. Put it on a pedestal and stare at it… Take it to the local cruise… Take it on the Hot Rod Power Tour… Whatever you elect to do with this cool Chevelle, it is sure to be the centerpiece of your collection, the focal point of your garage, and, most importantly, the car you most look forward to driving and being seen in!
