Description

Although we see many amazing cars here at RK Motors Charlotte, and we're passionate about every vehicle that comes through our doors, it's still a rare occasion when we get to combine words like “outrageous” and “ultimate”. But when it comes to a car like this 1941 Willys pro-street, a six-figure project that's wrapped in custom, jaw-dropping paint, the words “outrageous” and “ultimate” seem as closely related as “high” and “octane”. Featuring a fully detailed Ram Jet 502, a custom Ultraleather interior and one of the most comprehensive builds we've ever seen, this gothic themed street rod has to be one of the coolest cars we've ever offered. So here goes: If you're looking for the ultimate opportunity to own an outrageous street rod, it doesn't get much better than this sinister Willys coupe!

Rumbling into our shop in all its custom glory, this awesome Americar is one of those classics that takes multiple looks to truly appreciate. Sure, it sounds mean; but in the world of modern street rodding, building a cool Willys almost predicates 500 cubic inches. And you bet it's nice, but in the age of 21st century build techniques, seeing a super nice street rod is pretty much expected. What's not predictable or expected is being knocked out with an artistic barrage of skulls, flames and blades that rockets the car's intimidation factor right through the stratosphere! That evil yet fitting paint is actually a very dynamic blend of black, silver, beige, and custom graphics sifted from the twisted confines of Dusold Designs in Lewisville, Texas. The car's straight and smooth body was molded, laminated and accessorized at Dennis Taylor Reproductions in Booneville, Arkansas. And today, with well over six-figures spent on its world class build, this one-of-a-kind Willys will make you bust out your favorite leathers, hook up your best 'chain drive wallet' and howl at the midnight moon!

When you're sporting paint like this, you don't need shiny trinkets and polished doodads to make a big impression. And on this Willys, there's no gratuitous chrome or high maintenance stainless to stand in the way of super clean bodywork. At the front of the car, a contoured hood, which greets casual motorists with a horned and saber-toothed skull, rides between original-style headlights and a conservative chrome grille. At the top of the car, lightly tinted glass, which includes modern power windows, fits snug inside fresh black weather stripping. At the sides of the car, shaved doors and small black mirrors hang over polished, side-exit exhaust pipes that look almost as good as they sound. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed tail lights illuminate a second skull that's intricately framed in both bones and blades. That's it…. A car this incredible doesn't have to prove itself with random baubles and bolt-ons.

Speaking of outrageous; if you're having any doubts about this Willys ability to back up its loud persona, I'd encourage you to hoist its hood. Pop the latch, fling the fiberglass and you'll find 502 cubic inches of GM Performance Parts Ram Jet V8 that produces a massive 502 horsepower and an explosive 565 lb./ft. of torque. What's better: more than 500 lb./ft. of that torque is available as low as 2,500 RPM! Can you say stump puller? At the top of the big mill, amazing throttle response and modern drivability are provided by a polished ram jet intake that's jolted by a Lokar throttle cable and fronted by a reusable filter element. Beneath that intake, a cross-drilled and externally balanced steel nitride crank combines with forged pistons and forged, shot-peened and magnafluxed connecting rods to create stout 9.6 to 1 compression. And between those internals, a GMPP hydraulic roller cam works great with GM's computer-controlled speed density system. The engine's large, oval port aluminum heads hang custom-painted valve covers over attractive long-tube headers. At the back of those headers, a traditional points distributor sends spark through high performance Taylor plug wires that are loomed into billet runners. In front of those runners, a full set of billet pulleys spin fully polished accessories around a full set of billet brackets. And in front of those brackets, a 0 To Cool radiator, which is equipped with a big electric puller fan and small chrome overflow tube, barely breaks a sweat. Aesthetically, the body-matched engine bay is holding up exceptionally well. And detail items like polished lines, braided hoses, billet caps and Cool-Flex water tubes add a heavy dose of form and function.

Behind that killer big block, a Lokar kick down engages a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed that, like its accompanying torque converter, was sourced directly from Hughes Performance. That proven transmission sends power to a polished driveshaft which spins a polished and painted Ford nine inch that's stuffed with road-ready gears. That first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a custom, one-off chassis which is suspended via adjustable Aldan coil overs. That custom chassis stops thanks to a Wilwood Pro Kit that utilizes four black, power-assisted calipers to squeeze big, drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers breathe into fully polished side pipes that growl through thin, glasspack-style mufflers. And keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of painted Billet Specialties wheels which wear 25x7.50R15 Hoosier Pro Streets up front and 31x18.50R15 Hoosier Pro Streets out back. From its power rack and pinion steering to its professionally installed tubs, this sinister street rod is one of the most detailed Willys we've ever offered. The car's fully finished undercarriage is dotted with high quality components like Aeromotive fuel hardware, a finned transmission cooler and Wolo horns. And you'd better believe its beefy powertrain is more than ready to deal with the massive power being churned to its meaty rear tires!

Naturally, no expense was spared on bringing this car's cozy cabin up to par with the rest of its build. The custom Ultraleather seats, which have been completed with authentic Ostrich inserts, look and feel fantastic. In front of those seats, a body-matched and skull-detailed dash hangs a full assortment of Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges above controls for a Vintage Air climate system. Below that dash, a custom-built and custom-detailed console props an MP3 compatible Alpine CD/DVD player in front of a snazzy B&M Street Bandit shifter. At the base of that console, chrome-trimmed pedals arc over like-new carpet that's protected by carpeted and color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, custom door panels hang billet handles inside fully detailed jams. Above those panels, a custom headliner hides prerequisite Ron Francis wiring behind a center-mount DVD monitor. In front of the driver, a polished tilt steering column spins a painted and leather wrapped wheel around a skull-branded horn button. And behind the passengers, high quality Alpine audio components front a leather-lined trunk that's complete with a polished stainless fuel tank.

The sale of this bone-crushing street rod includes a small stack of component manuals.

With massive power, attitude for miles and great fit and finish all wrapped up in a classic Willys shape, this Americar is one top notch street rod! Not weighed down by "me too" or trendy components, it's a car that will stand the test of time and turn heads for years to come. If you're the kind of bold enthusiast who likes to walk on the edge, this slick coupe presents an outrageous opportunity!
