Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this roadster is no exception. The car's virtually flawless body doesn't show a wave or ripple anywhere, and extremely tight panel gaps, which have become a Factory Five hallmark, provide an excellent foundation for traditional American war paint. With a spectacular blue basecoat layering its super smooth body, bright white stripes and familiar racing roundels create enough visual sizzle to match Carroll Shelby's enduring legacy of performance. Detailing is critical on Shelby replicas, and this is where a lot of cars start to disappoint. Fortunately, you can tell the overall impression of one of these roadsters from about five feet away. Up front, a familiar Cobra face hangs traditional halogen headlights above chrome-trimmed, bullet-style parking lamps and bright chrome quick lifts. At the top of those lifts, a smooth fiberglass hood props a small scoop between traditional rivets and new locking latches. Behind those latches, a tinted and chrome-trimmed windshield, which is flanked by a satin-finished racing mirror, dark-tint visors and Factory Five wind wings, reflects a canvas cockpit cover and polished stainless roll bar. Below those wings, ceramic coated side pipes complement finned air extractors, small “427 COBRA” emblems and a traditional, Monza-style fuel filler. And behind that filler, chrome-trimmed tail lights combine with a chrome tag light to illuminate a locking trunk handle and a second pair of chrome quick lifts.
Turning heads is only one of this Cobra's skills; it also does a very good job of going fast and making a lot of noise! Tilt the car's fully finished hood and you'll find a big Ford 427 that looks almost as mean as it sounds. The menacing mill utilizes a Scat crank, a Competition camshaft and Keith Black pistons to back 483 dyno-proven horses with 489 lb./ft. of pavement-busting torque! At the top of that buff power source, a simple chrome air cleaner feeds a coated Edelbrock 850 carburetor that's tethered to an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake. At the sides of that carburetor, high performance Roush Motorsports heads ride below chrome, “427 COBRA” branded valve covers. At the front of those heads, an aftermarket points distributor sequences sparks between an MSD coil and high quality MSD Heli-Core Solid Suppression Wires. Beneath those wires, application-specific headers send charred dinosaurs into the aforementioned side pipes. And in front of those headers, a big aluminum radiator circulates water around a large electric puller fan, a polished overflow tank and stylish billet pulleys. You'll be happy to know the clean V8 has been sufficiently coated in bright blue paint and properly seated in a satin aluminum bay. And you'll be excited to see items like new stainless lines, fresh braided hoses and a heavy duty breather rounding out what amounts to a trophy worthy engine display.
