Description

There are two guaranteed ways to stop traffic with a classic Camaro. You can take the traditional path and buy a highly optioned original car that's fit for a plastic bubble. Or, you can pick up an old road warrior, grab a bunch of vendor catalogs and build the nastiest resto-mod your money can buy. Take this vivid F1 for example. With its brutal, 502 cubic inch V8, it'll whip most cars up and down the strip. With its custom Chris Alston chassis, it makes quick work of twisted backroads. And with its supple leather interior, it features a perfect combination of vintage feel and cutting edge technologically. Forget some stuffy trailer queen that's constantly framed in little red ropes. And forget a me-too modern car that'll depreciate faster than its 5-year payoff. With this killer Super Sport, you can truly have your cake and eat it too!

The beneficiary of a high quality, frame-off restoration, this slick, first generation F-Body features an athletic appearance that's ready for prime time show time. The car's metamorphosis started with an original, 1968 Camaro body that appears to have never seen any significant damage. In 2011, that body was shipped to a professional restoration shop where its solid fuselage was massaged into an arrow-straight canvas. Once that body's thoroughly tweaked profile was prepped and ready for paint, a smooth coat of Torch Red basecoat was sealed under a thick clearcoat shell. And today, it all adds up to one very enticing pony car that's sure to please ANY classic car enthusiast!

The overall look of this restoration-fresh Camaro is beyond factory perfect. And, thanks to its spectacular combination of bright red paint and flashy chrome accents, the car pops like a well-tailored Power Suit. Up front, a stainless-trimmed grille centers clear parking lamps and a white “SS” emblem between modern halogen headlights, a spotless chrome bumper and a short, Trans Am-style spoiler. At the top of that grille, a “Camaro BY CHEVROLET” header leads the eye to a familiar cowl induction hood that reflects smoked glass, bright stainless wipers and mirrored stainless trim. At the sides of that header, a clean profile hangs flowing “Camaro” scripts, bold “502” call-outs and white-inlayed “SS” emblems around traditional door handles, fresh rocker trim and correct chrome mirrors. And at the back of that profile, '68 Camaro tail lights illuminate an optional decklid spoiler, an “SS” branded fuel filler and a second spotless bumper.

Lift this F1's glowing hood and you'll find a 502 horsepower, 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts monster block wedged inside a Torch Red engine bay that's detailed all the way down to its bowtie-branded frame. The big engine's growl originates when wind whips from a chrome, Spectre-equipped air cleaner into a coated Quick Fuel carburetor that's cinched to a small Summit pressure gauge and polished stainless fluid lines. That resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from a coated Weiand Team G intake to aluminum Chevrolet heads that are topped with a slick pair coated Moroso valve covers. Once the juice hits those heads, a modern HEI distributor sends fire through loomed Pertronix Flame Thrower plug wires to big cylinders that are combusted via aluminum pistons, shot peened connecting rods and a high quality forged crankshaft. Cooling for that fire comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator that's sandwiched between a color-keyed shroud, a polished and color-keyed flex fan and fully polished ancillary components. Fluid for that cooling system is provided by a coated Edelbrock water pump that, along with a polished alternator and AC compressor, spins via an aesthetically pleasing serpentine system. And the spent gases created by that process exit through a slick pair of ceramic coated, long-tube headers. The buff mill is exceptionally impressive, centering its Torch Red block between coated hood fasteners, coated fender braces and a fresh chrome brake booster. And details like chrome K&N breathers, polished hose fittings and braided steel hoses convey the kind of acute build quality that elicits immediate stares.

Take a look under this tire shredding pony car and you'll find a fully restored chassis that's ready for either the strip or the turntable. Behind the big engine, a strengthened Turbo-Hydramatic 400 spins a posi-traction Ford 9-inch around mild 3.00 gears and Moser 31-spline axles. At the front of that tough drivetrain, a Chris Alston's Chassisworks sub-frame makes good use of custom spindles, fresh coil-over-shocks, coated tubular control arms and manual rack and pinion steering. At the corners of that modern suspension, power-assisted Wilwoods clamp vented and slotted rotors to provide cool and confident stops. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers into coated, true-dual pipes that employ an H-shaped crossover and aggressive, dual-chamber Flowmasters. Power meets the pavement through razor-sharp Billet Specialties wheels which spin 235/45ZR17 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As in front of 235/50ZR18 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As. And the car's fresh, Torch Red floors, which have been covered in weather resistant undercoating, are finished with color-keyed frame connectors, a custom transmission support, a finned transmission cooler and a high quality electric fuel pump.

Open this Chevy's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a highly customized interior that wraps 21st century style in a nice blend of comfort and convenience. The car's firm front bucket and rear bench seats have been completely rebuilt and covered in supple leather hides. In front of those surprisingly plush thrones, a leather-wrapped and wood-trimmed dash hangs a full set of Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lites behind a custom instrument panel, billet accessory buttons and a correct Delco radio. At the base of that dash, a custom console, which mirrors said dash's wood and leather motif, frames a classy Lokar shifter. Beneath that console, high quality carpet anchors color-keyed floor mats between billet foot pedals and leather-wrapped kick panels. At the edges of that carpet, custom door panels center clean, wood-detailed armrests between billet handles, small power window switches and billet quarter window cranks. Above those doors, a suede headliner rides behind a chrome mirror, suede a-pillar covers, a stylized dome light and suede sail panels. In front of the driver, a polished and wood-rimmed steering wheel spins around a polished and tilting column. And behind the passengers, a leather package tray hangs big Polk Audio speakers over a custom upholstered trunk.

The sale of this brilliant panther includes photos and receipts from its top notch restoration.

With its beefy big block, custom suspension and fresh leather interior, this awesome Camaro combines explosive horsepower with excellent handling and classic American appeal. Nothing's simply 'adequate' about this car; it's an exceptionally well-done street machine that'll provide years of invigorating performance and turn heads anywhere it goes. If you're looking for a stunning Detroit super star that has the muscle to back up its killer good looks, this clean Chevy is your next cruiser!
