Description

It seems that almost everywhere you see a Ford Racing logo you also see some variation of the name Jack Roush. A true man's man who likes fast cars, fast planes, and sometimes mixing the two, “The Cat in the Hat” has turned tweaking Ford's best high performance hardware into a form of modern art. And that's the main reason his namesake company, Roush Performance of Livonia, Michigan, virtually OWNS the Ford tuner market. If you want a specialty piece that actually has the performance to match its aesthetics, all you have to do is look for a square fender badge that's comprised of a red and black “R”. And this 2007 Stage 3 is a factory-fresh warhorse that's functionally cooler thanks to a 7-piece body kit, significantly quicker thanks to a 415 horsepower, ROUSHcharged V8, and more athletic thanks to a fresh, track-tuned suspension. In fact, not only is this top notch Mustang fun, dependable and scary quick, it'll also hold its own next to the finest vintage metal your local cruise in has to offer. If you're looking for the perfect combination of classic show, OEM quality and major go, this showroom-fresh Ford is the deal of the year!

Number 002 of only 296 Roush Stage 3s built for the 2007 model year, this pristine pony car is exceptional in virtually every way. With only 3,297 miles on its bright green odometer, the car has benefitted from a series of very meticulous owners. Its body is 100% straight with no history of accidents or damage of any kind. Roush's high quality bolt-ons blend invisibly with Ford's tight and glossy panels. And overall, this Mustang conveys a premium sense of collectability that, when combined with its spectacular performance, creates a timeless modern classic.

Featuring sculpted, muscular sheetmetal, well-planned appearance upgrades and a buttoned down stance, this awesome Roush creation takes Ford designer J. Mays' theme of 'retro-futurism' and literally brings it to life. At the front of the car, a familiar, Mustang-branded grille hangs clear driving lights between factory black-bucket headlights, a custom Roush valence and a thin chin spoiler. Above that grille, a traditional Mustang GT hood anchors a prominent “ROUSHCHARGED” scoop in front of factory glass and a silver “ROUSH” windshield banner. At the sides of that hood, traditional Roush Performance emblems perfectly parallel body-matched rocker panels and painted Roush quarter louvers. And at the back of the car, a three-piece Roush spoiler hangs over a “STAGE 3” filler emblem, a custom Roush valence and square, stainless exhaust tips.

Created as a turnkey package for enthusiasts who want a reliably engineered Mustang that unlocks the full potential of Ford's legendary mod motor, the Roush Stage 3 utilizes a roots-style supercharger to crank out 415 horsepower and 385 lb./ft. of gravel-throwing torque. Roush's patented ROUSHcharger is an Eaton-produced blower that exhales through a relocated and redesigned single core cross-flow intercooler which helps manage on-track temperatures and create gobs of torque-rich power. In front of that blower, a familiar Roush induction system provides both a cleaner appearance and better efficiency. At the sides of that blower, small aluminum plaques display the car's authenticity. Below that blower, a light aluminum intake complements molded, still pliable hoses. And, even though Ford's go-to V8 is a very strong engine as is, the experts at Roush went ahead and installed a beefier cooling system and recalibrated ECM just in case this Mustang's owner wanted to spend ample time at the track. Aesthetically, the spotless mill features a typical OEM-level appearance that displays hardly any signs of usage at all. And when you twist its key, you become the lead composer of a veritable orchestra of sinister whines and octane-fueled roars!

Straight from Dearborn the D2C Mustang platform is a very capable foundation; and with a few upgrades from Roush Performance, it becomes a true force to be reckoned with! Behind the engine, a proven Tremec 5-speed drives a rugged Ford 8.8 inch rear end that's equipped with modest 3.31 gears. That stout drivetrain powers a tuned front strut and 3-link rear suspension that's fitted with large sway bars, uniquely valved shocks, better struts and increased-rate springs. Braking is handled by a cool conglomeration of 14-inch Roush binders, factory rear discs, standard anti-lock software and recalibrated AdvanceTrac traction control. The car's killer engine note is provided by an optional Roush exhaust system which is a 'no brainer' dealer-installed option. At the corners of the floor, fantastic Roush wheels spin super sticky 275/40ZR18 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As around mandatory locking lug nuts. And overall, the bottom of this wicked Ford, which is super clean and shows no signs of abuse, appears to have spent 80% of its life tucked away in a dry garage and 20% of its life serving as a pampered weekend cruiser.

Unlike most tuners, Roush Performance adds attractive interior upgrades to all their vehicles. Steal one glance inside this barely touched pony car and you'll find a top-of-the-line cockpit that still retains its hallowed new car appearance. The seats are supple leather buckets which display light stitching, contrasting inserts and bright “STAGE 3” logos. Inside the dash, attractive carbon fiber trim frames an OEM-quality, Roush Stage 3 electro luminescent instrument panel. At the center of the car, a Roush Performance short throw shifter looks perfect between a carbon fiber-topped console and powerful Shaker 500 audio system. At the floor, CNC'ed Roush Performance foot pedals hang over like-new carpet which is protected by color-keyed floor mats and satin Roush sill plates. In front of the driver, a silver-spoked steering wheel retains all its factory functionality. Behind the cockpit, a factory-correct trunk opens wide to reveal a reasonable amount of luggage space. And naturally, all the amenities and convenience features you've come to expect in a modern classic are present and accounted for including: climate control, cruise control and full power accessories.

The sale of this virtually new pony car includes an original Ford owner's manual, a few service bills, a BF Goodrich tire owner's manual and a second Ford key.

The name Jack Roush is synonymous with racing and extreme performance. And when that name adorns a line of modified Mustangs, you know they're something special. There's little to fault in this low-mileage, one-owner Stage 3. It's a superb car with out-of-the-box abilities which allow it to embarrass any number of vehicles at any given track. If you're looking for a future blue chip collector piece that's interesting, fun, easy to live with and scary fast all the same, you've found your next car!
