Description

Classic cars are all about passion. Some of the nicest classics we feature are those built by folks who invest a large amount of time and money into a project they simply love. And much to the surprise of casual onlookers, most gearhead's dream builds don't involve Ridler finalists or a prestigious pile of garage floor décor. Instead, they're filled with impressive, well-done cruisers which wrap modern power, everyday livability and top-notch road manners in about five times the curb appeal of your local showroom special. This awesome '57 Chevy was carefully crafted into a first class head turner during a multi-year, high dollar restoration. And, thanks to a proven small block and virtually indestructible driveline, it's now the perfect platform for cross-country road trips. Looking for a hot tri-five that's every bit as cool, and twice as classy, as a ground-up custom? This killer Bel Air is an amazing car at an incredible price!

Delightfully vintage and decidedly fresh, this slick 210-turned-Bel Air is proof that Chevrolet's decision to take a curvaceous fuselage, weld it to a sweeping roofline and decorate it with an ample amount of chrome was an excellent idea. Unlike the exaggerated designs of the late 50s and early 60s, the car's proportions are spot-on, there's appropriate use of trim, and the sharp rear fins that would eventually grow to controversial wings are fully integrated into attractive, planar surfaces. Judging by a quick glance at its profile, this Bel Air was an extremely solid piece when its high quality, frame-off restoration began. Nonetheless, its body was stripped to bare metal and virtually perfected in a thorough rebuild that included a restored undercarriage and correct Dusk Pearl paint. And today, it sits as one fantastic tri-five that creates a one car parade wherever it goes!

Chic is the name of the game with this clean chameleon, as the car's striking combination of highly polished stainless and subdued pearl pigment readily assimilates to either modern or retro depending on its context. That assimilation begins with a heavy, body-width bumper that props a clean, stainless grille behind a pristine Chevrolet crest and two clear parking lamps. Above that crest, chrome header ornamentation rides between hooded headlights and '57 Chevy-exclusive 'spear bullets and spoons'. At the sides of those headlights, classic tri-five stainless is flanked by traditional fender louvers and dent-free rocker guards. Above those louvers, curvy chrome trim combines with a small, stylized antenna and bright, electric wipers to perfectly frame a factory-tint greenhouse. Opposite those wipers, peaked fin caps highlight '57 Chevy tail lights, a second chrome bumper and bare, stainless exhaust tips. And above that bumper, chrome trunk ornamentation reflects a traditional chrome tag frame.

Under this sedan's gently rolled hood you'll find a 383 cubic inch, bored and stroked V8 that utilizes a hydraulic Competition cam, ARP bolts, Keith Black pistons and moly rings to twist stout 10 to 1 compression into pure, unadulterated power! And although that thoroughly massaged mill looks small in the car's super tidy engine bay, you can rest assured that it has no problem propelling this curvy classic to literal breakneck speeds. At the top of the block, a chrome, open-element air cleaner mixes wind with high octane dinosaurs that are juiced through a coated fuel pump, a billet canister filter and Russell stainless fluid lines. Below that cleaner, a coated Holley 750 jams that perfect air/fuel mixture into polished Edelbrock Performer RPM heads via a coated Edelbrock intake that's flanked by custom painted and “Chevrolet” branded valve covers. Behind those valve covers, a billet points distributor sequences spark between a chrome MSD Blaster 2 coil and loomed Taylor plug wires. Cooling is provided by a polished Matson radiator that's equipped with black, corrugated hoses, two Spal puller fans and a matching Matson support. Charging comes courtesy of a polished Powermaster alternator that, thanks to a trick March pulley system, spins above a chrome water pump, a chrome-capped Competition timing set and high quality Classic Performance Products steering components. And spent gases travel from a slick pair of Sanderson block hugger headers to large, aluminized exhaust pipes. Aesthetically, this sweet Chevy's fully sorted engine bay is a stylish combination of glossy Dusk Pearl and high temp black. And details like a fresh brake booster, a simple chrome breather and a high quality Melling oil pump add miles and instill confidence!

During its frame-off restoration, this Bel Air's original 'Glide Ride' suspension was fully rebuilt with modern power steering and 2-inch drop springs at every corner. Above that suspension, rust-free floorpans were, like most of today's best classics, blasted and completely body-matched. Behind the stout small block, a Richmond Super T-10 4-speed spins a factory, posi-traction rear end that's equipped with a sturdy Auburn differential and big 3.55 gears. Braking is handled by a full set of modern discs that were a logical and easy retrofit. Exhaust rumbles through big, aluminized pipes to aggressive Walker Quiet-Flow 3 mufflers. And power flows to the pavement via 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust IIs that lap 215/70 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around fresh chrome spokes. All of the car's lines, hoses, brackets and fasteners, which were completely replaced at the time of restoration, show little to no weathering. And everything from this Chevy's polished oil pan to its new stainless fuel tank is fully sorted and ready to hit the road!

Featuring a stunning array of black and silver accents, this tri-five's custom-fitted interior is both clean and impressive. At the center of the car, silver-detailed seats wear a striking combination of cloth and vinyl skin that's flanked by sturdy, modern seatbelts. On the doors, tri-tone panels, which almost look custom, hang chrome handles, stainless trim and simple armrests below glossy silver toppers. At the floor, fresh black carpet centers a chrome Long shifter between beefy rubber mats. On the roof, a clean and tight headliner stretches from the car's curved front window to its straight, silver package tray. At the front of the cockpit, a pristine dash hangs clear Classic Instruments gauges next to a modernized Wonder Bar radio. The driver is connected to the road by a glossy, small-diameter steering wheel that spins a full chrome horn ring around a tilting Ididit column. And the passengers carry their essentials via a fully restored trunk that anchors a full-size spare tire between a correct jack, fresh fender decals and new rubber mat.

The sale of this awesome resto-mod includes a few component manuals and a small stack of build receipts.

Cars like this awesome Bel Air are very special, and they represent incredible value to buyers. With its hot drivetrain, high quality restoration and custom color combination, THIS is the kind of build you simply can't touch for our asking price. Just imagine heading out in this old school classic on a warm summer evening; the burble of the 383 as your chorus, the smooth, open road as your canvas, and nothing between your mind and miles of happiness!
