While Chevelles and GTOs get a lot of attention, they certainly aren't the only game in town. Their rocket-badged cousins have more curves and more cubes, lending them a lasting appeal that resonates in today's collector market. And this fully restored 442, awakened from a 34-year storage in early 2010, is a great example of why ALL GM muscle cars are so incredible!

Born with wicked awesome looks, this Olds' current condition comes courtesy of a complete, frame-off restoration performed by Thornton Classics in Telford, Pennsylvania. The car's all-original sheetmetal is covered in a correct coat of GM code 19 Ebony Black and detailed with striking white stripes. And that sinister hue has, naturally, been topped with show-quality chrome, new glass and fresh stainless trim.

Power is provided by an original, 455 cubic inch Oldsmobile V8 that's been rebuilt to factory specs using only original and NOS parts. The whole assembly is covered in bright blue paint and seated between correct red fenders. And everything, from the car's solenoid-activated air cleaner to its dent-free oil pan, presents with prestige and authenticity.

That big mill is backed by an original Muncie M21 4-speed that utilizes an original clutch to spin a factory 12-bolt and big, 3.73 gears. The car's original double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension, which has been completely rebuilt to factory specifications, features correct power steering and a correct rear sway bar. And at the corners, 14-inch Magnum 500s twist G70-14 Goodyears around correct, power-assisted brakes.

Inside the car, you'll find more great Oldsmobile styling wrapped in a mixture of black vinyl, bright stainless and rich wood grain applique. A luxurious combination of bucket and bench seats sport fresh covers that, judging by appearance, haven't seen any road time. That upscale aura continues onto the dashboard which offers rebuilt factory gauges and a modernized, vintage-look radio. And in front of the driver, a satin-spoked steering wheel laps a bright red rocket emblem.

The market for authentic, investment grade Oldsmobiles is incredibly strong, as evidenced by how quickly this 442 sold. Congratulations to the car's lucky owner for snagging one of our most impressive A-Bodies before its pictures even hit our website. If you're searching for some world class muscle from one of GM's finer divisions, stay tuned. There's always something good around the corner!
