Description

Another freshly restored '69 Charger R/T Track Pack car packing a 440 big block, a 4-speed manual, and painted R4/Performance Red, what's not to love? We also have a two-inch thick stack of restoration photos and a binder full of receipts on the restoration, so you can buy this one with confidence.

By the time the restorer got to this car, the original engine and transmission were long gone, so he set out to build a first-rate OEM level car that you won't be afraid to drive and that will get a ton of attention anywhere you go. Duplicating the factory specs exactly, he didn't take any liberties with equipment, ending up with a well-equipped 440-powered Charger that will hammer down the road and put a big grin on your face every time you turn the key.

In addition to the restoration photos and receipts, we also have the original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet from the back seat (plus photos showing its discovery), and here are the highlights from the fender tag:

There are dozens of restoration photos, which clearly show that this Charger has replacement floors and quarters. Of course the work was competently done and well finished, so if we didn't tell you, you wouldn't know! All panels are ultra-straight, and those same photos show the car going through multiple block-sanding stages to get the bodywork flat and level before any of the 2-stage Performance Red paint was sprayed. Once everything was in place and lined up, the paint was applied to every square inch of the car, including the engine bay, where it frames the highly detailed 440. Just to make it really sparkle, we sent it to our body team and they gave it a top-notch buff before several coats of wax were applied, leaving a spectacular finish that will blow your mind when you see it in person.

The restorer took the time to upgrade all the trim pieces while he was working on the car, including fresh bumpers, reproduction emblems that look awesome, and a fully restored front grille (and you know how expensive that gets on these cars). In back, the tail panel was restored and properly finished with satin black paint and topped off with a set of beautiful taillights. A correct white bumblebee stripe was added out back, finishing off this great-looking Charger.

Open the hood (which features hood-mounted turn signal indicators, by the way), and you'll find a well-detailed and torquey 440 Magnum V8. Fully rebuilt, this is one of the best running Mopars we've had in a while. You almost can't get your hand off the key fast enough it fires up so quickly, and the idle is smooth and muscular-sounding through the fresh dual exhaust system. It was also very well detailed after it was bathed in Hemi Orange paint and installed in the bright red engine bay. Note the correct hoses and clamps, the correct wrinkle-finish air cleaner with Magnum 440 decals, and the authentic 26-inch radiator up front. This is a power steering and power brake equipped car, so it's a pleasure to drive, and both systems have been rebuilt and operate as they should. The distributor is new from Concours Creations, which specializes in authentic Mopar engine parts. We have just installed a fresh red cap battery, which really finishes off the engine bay.

Underneath, you'll find a clean chassis that has been professionally undercoated so that it looks very, very similar to the original stuff the factory would have sprayed. The fresh floors are well installed with none of the usual gaps between the sheet metal and the braces that you see on poorly done floor replacements. The 4-speed manual transmission, as original, has been rebuilt and painted silver that looks authentic and will look great forever. Out back, the heavy duty Dana rear axle carries 3.54 gears, a great compromise between acceleration and cruising ability. The front sub-frame has been powder coated gloss black, and the entire front suspension has been rebuilt. This Charger sports drum brakes all around, and a complete dual exhaust system, including the correct chrome tips, from Accurate Exhaust Products. Rolling stock is a gorgeous set of 14-inch Magnums with 225/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials that really fill out the Charger's big wheel-wells.

Inside, the black bucket seat interior is all new. Seat covers, carpets, headliner, dash pad, all of it is recently installed and very correct. The console has been refinished, and all the gauges have been restored, including the clock which was converted to quartz movement. The original Music Master AM radio is in place as original, and the steering wheel is in excellent condition. As I mentioned, the original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet was retrieved from behind the back seat. I have always liked the way the shifter handle is curved towards the driver to fall easily to hand, and the lever and knob on this one have been restored to new condition. And yes, YouTube viewers, the back-up lights on this Charger are fully functional, including the warning light on the dashboard, a feature I always liked in Chryslers.

Lots and lots of receipts for all the work on this car are included with the sale. There's also the aforementioned Broadcast Sheet, an original Owner's Manual and warranty booklet, as well as a stack of restoration photos, which rounds out a decent package of information.

This is exactly the right car for all you guys I've spoken with recently who say, I want a car I can drive. Well, here's one that was built to do just that, and will take down trophies at just about any show you enter while you are doing it! It runs incredibly well, the undercarriage is protected, and all the important systems have been fully rebuilt. There's none of that “investment” stuff going on here, but don't forget, this is a real 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 440 4 speed Track Pack car, one of the most popular muscle cars of all time! Throw in one of the most popular colors and an original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet and we'd be willing to bet this brand new restored car will outperform cash over the next decade! There's a lot to love about this car, and it's truly the best of both worlds. It's a car that will hold its value while you are mashing the throttle, spinning the tires, banging the gears, and listening to that 440 roar. Considering how fast the last 20 restored OEM/custom Chargers have flown out of here, the over/under on this one is 7 days. Call now!
