Description

If you're a car enthusiast, you already know the iconic status of Shelby's 427-powered Cobra. But every legacy has a beginning, and, for the Cobra, that beginning is rooted in cars like this pristine CSX 7000. A modern day continuation of the 289 FIA that claimed America's first World Manufacturer's Championship, this small block beast combines unbeatable heritage with subtle, modern updates. If you're looking for a fresh twist on an old favorite, forget about project cars pieced together from leftovers. And forget about sloppy replica builds that shame their storied aluminum predecessors. Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and pick up this razor-sharp Shelby. It's reliable, fully-sorted and ready to rock and roll!

Wearing a virtually flawless shell, this 56-mile Cobra builds hand-laid fiberglass and hand-formed aluminum into a rock-solid classic that mixes great fit with a noise-free driving experience. Stiffly reinforced body panels feature the smooth surfaces and typically tight gaps we've come to expect from top notch replicas. The car's excellent finish is a testament to both the OEM quality of Shelby American and the true talent of ESP Motorcars of Salisbury, North Carolina. And, while few cars strike a perfect balance of outrageous looks, serious performance and excellent attention to detail, this Cobra's timeless PPG Porsche Polar Silver pigment creates a simply irresistible curve carver!

Speaking of details, they're often the downfall of an otherwise excellent build. Not so with this roadster, as every aspect of its design enhances Shelby's innate style and appeal. At the front of the car, traditional quick lifts reflect chrome-trimmed headlights, bullet-style parking lamps and a familiar Shelby emblem. Behind that emblem, a sturdy driver's roll bar rides opposite a stainless-trimmed windshield that's framed in small wipers, tinted visors and clear wind wings. Below those wings, ceramic-coated side pipes complement finned air extractors and a requisite, Monza-style fuel filler. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed tail lights illuminate a second Shelby emblem, two more quick lifts and a lockable trunk handle.

Twist this Cobra's chrome hood ties and you'll find 302 cubic inches of Ford Racing V8. Built by Nostalgia Motorcars LTD of Rock Hill, South Carolina, this buff welterweight wraps forged rods, forged pistons, a hydraulic cam and high quality roller rockers in a full array of trophy winning aesthetics. At the top of the Cast Silver mill, a small, stainless air cleaner marries wind with fuel supplied by a Holley 650 carburetor. The resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from a clean aluminum intake to lightweight aluminum heads, which hide under familiar Cobra valve covers. When those heads flood the cylinders, a Mallory Unilite distributor sequences fire through 7mm Hi Temp Radio Suppression Cables. As combustion is sparked, resultant gases are jettisoned through big, ceramic-coated headers. That combustion's cooling is provided by a beefy Fluidyne radiator, which stores water in front of a large-diameter puller fan. As with any expertly built Cobra, the car's engine bay is detailed and ready for show, from its billet pulleys all the way to its braided fluid lines. And it all adds up to one super sweet small block that looks right at home centered between a fully finished hood and snazzy aluminum fenders.

One of the best things about buying any high quality replica is the modern hardware underneath. Fully sorted and completely detailed, this Shelby's 3-inch, Drawn Over Mandrel frame and fully independent suspension are ready to hit the toughest track you can find. Behind the engine, a durable Toploader 4-speed sends power to a Dana 44 rear end that's stuffed with a limited slip differential and stout, 3.54 gears. At the corners of the floor, 11-inch discs combine with fresh shocks to provide better stopping and increased grip. At the front of the suspension, modern rack and pinion steering makes low speed parking almost as easy as high speed sweeps. Power meets the pavement via attractive Shelby knock-offs, which wear 245/60 front and 295/50 rear BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And everything, from the car's wiring to its 16-gallon fuel tank, is essentially brand new. With an exceptionally high power-to-weight ratio, completely modern components and a purpose built frame, this Shelby is a turn-key road warrior that's an absolute blast to drive!

Cobra interiors have always been simple, and this roadster's purist nature shines like a fresh coat of wax on its Porsche Silver fenders. The black vinyl seats are firm, look as good as new and feature 3-point Simpson harnesses for increased safety. In front of those seats, a silver-topped dash, which is covered in straight and tight vinyl, hangs Stewart Warner gauges between a chrome mirror, an ornate Shelby plaque and a small kill switch. At the sides of that dash, traditional fiberglass doors have been dressed in soft inserts and chrome handles. Below those doors, new black carpet frames billet foot pedals and a simple console that's fitted with a polished emergency brake and small shifter. In front of the driver, a wood-rimmed steering wheel spins polished spokes around a Cobra-branded horn button. And behind the passengers, an aluminum-clad trunk offers a surprising amount of storage space.

The sale of this silver bullet includes a CD of build photos, an original parts list, wiring diagrams, a Shelby American Statement of Origin, and a new, unfitted tonneau cover.

With classic looks, a killer engine and a fully sorted, track-ready chassis, this awesome roadster provides unmatched thrills for an unmatched price. It's the latest in our string of high quality Cobras that look just as good as originals while benefitting from modern technology and 21st century build techniques. Don't miss this opportunity to own a turnkey Shelby that's just as nice as vintage, and probably more fun to drive, at a fraction of the cost!
