Description

One of the coolest things about the classic car hobby is the amount of creativity and attention to detail put into these cars. Some of these builds take years or even decades and just when you think you've seen it all, another completely amazing car catches your eye and knocks your socks off. This 1967 Chevrolet Nova is a stare producing machine that wraps a custom interior and a modern drivetrain in one of the straightest and most impressive bodies in our RK Motors Charlotte showroom.

This Nova is a take no prisoners build that benefitted from a full frame up build in 2008. Once the exceptionally straight body panels were properly aligned and prepped, the car was covered in Nissan code CV0 Sand Dune basecoat/clearcoat paint. Some people refer to this color as beige, but under our bright showroom lights, it presents as a silver and looks so rich and dynamic that this Nova's body panels seem wet to the touch. That wet look serves the handsome sharp-edged lines of the car very well and further emphasizes the conservative, clean look that these cars are known and loved for. At the front of the car, a body width show quality chrome bumper features $500 NOS bumper guards that are inset from clear and functional marker lights. At the edges of the car, two pristine headlights are housed within the peaked corners of a black anodized grille that is unique to 1967 Nova Super Sports. At the sides of the car, the modernist panels are complemented by stainless wheel well trim and rocker moldings that look brand new. Above the center body lines the rear fenders feature simplistic chrome “Nova” script next to red lined “Chevy II” emblems that appear showroom fresh. Just behind the tires on the front fenders, Chevrolet 'cross flag' emblems are split by a red, white and blue inlay and sit below 1962 Corvette “Fuel Injection” emblems that look tasteful and completely OEM. The top of the car features new glass all around and the side and rear windows have been smoked for a cool appearance and cooler interior temperatures. Stainless and chrome around the windows is free of flaws and shines perfectly to match chrome door handles, chrome wipers and a chrome driver's side bowtie mirror. At the rear of the car, a second full width chrome bumper features two more $500 NOS bumper guards and shines and the same show quality shine as the front bumper. On the trunk you'll find a good looking 'cross hatch' trim piece that is unique to 1967 Novas complete with a nice passenger's side “Chevy II” emblem. At the edges of the car, divided tail lights are free of defects and trimmed in bright chrome. Keeping the car firmly planted to the pavement is a great looking set of 17 inch Billet Specialties Fast Lane polished aluminum wheels with 225/45 Bridgestone Potenza G009s up front and 245/45 Bridgestone Potenza G009s in the rear.

Raise the straight, glossy hood to you'll see that this Nova has performance to back up its good looks. The smoothed engine bay houses a 350 cubic inch LT1 V8 that was transplanted, complete with transmission, from a 1993 Corvette. This Generation II LT1 Corvette motor utilizes a cast iron block, aluminum heads, 4 bolt mains, batch-fire fuel injection and speed density fuel management to provide an even 300 horsepower and an even better 340 lb./ft. of torque. All of that power comes with excellent road manners, guaranteed starts, immediate parts availability and serviceability at your local Chevrolet dealer. The top of the motor is body matched and features center bolt Chevrolet valve covers that are complete with a matching bowtie breather and oil cap. At the sides of the engine, coated block hugger headers add performance and great sound while MSD wires transmit sparks from a Painless Wiring harness to the cylinders. In front of the engine, a body matched radiator includes two electric fans and sends water through fresh hoses that frame a body matched Corvette air cleaner. The engine bay in this Nova is completely spotless and features Nissan's Sand Dune paint from the inner fenders all the way up to the finished and insulated hood. It looks tough, is well done and is certain to be a star at any show you attend.

Underneath the car, you'll find the 1993 Corvette 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to a GM 10 bolt posi-traction rear end that houses unbreakable 3.73 Richmond gears. At the front of the car, a factory double A-arm suspension has been equipped with front end braces, a modified sub frame, tubular upper and lower control arms, power steering and GM power disc brakes. At the rear of the car, mono leaf springs, QA1 gas shocks and a second set of GM power disc brakes complement the improved front suspension and give the car great road feel that's worthy of its modern drivetrain. Exhaust runs from the coated block hugger headers into a true dual exhaust system that is complete with an H-pipe, turbo mufflers and turn downs located just behind the rear wheels. The exhaust is also fitted with electronic exhaust dumps for those times when the turbo mufflers just aren't enough. The cars chassis is extremely clean and features satin black floor pans that show no evidence of rust or weathering at all and frame that is held together with stainless hardware. Details include new stainless brake and fuel lines, a straight fuel tank that appears new, a silver driveshaft and a body matched transmission pan. It's very apparent that this car has seen little road time since its 2008 completion and has likely never seen wet weather as even the insides of the aluminum wheels still carry a showroom luster.

Sit inside this Nova and check out its completely custom Paul Atkins leather upholstery. The maroon seats, which show no wear at all, are trimmed in stainless and feature trick metallic silver piping. In front of the seats, a custom body matched dash is topped by a maroon dash pad that looks brand new. Inside that dash, Classic Instruments white faced gauges provide a more accurate and more appealing representation of the cars vitals while a chrome-trimmed, direct-fit stereo provides some tunes. Below the radio, controls for the Vintage Air air conditioning system look right at home next to the cars traditional chrome headlight and wiper knobs. A custom Sand Dune and maroon console flows from the dash to the back of the front buckets and includes circular AC vents and a Lokar transmission shifter which is surrounded by a maroon boot. Below the console, new maroon carpet is protected by maroon carpeted mats and above the seats a custom maroon headliner flows to a maroon and mesh-detailed package tray. Custom door panels look excellent against upper and lower body matched borders and feature chrome handles and custom stainless trim. In front of the driver, a body matched tilt steering column holds an aluminum GM Rallye wheel that has been fitted with a maroon rim and an aluminum “Chevy II” horn button. Out back, the trunk has been custom upholstered to match the interior.

Documentation for this car includes restoration receipts and a Chevy II dealer brochure.

This tough 1967 Nova takes 'clean' to a new level and is certain to be a star anywhere you go.
