Investment Grade Supra Twin Turbo 3.0 Liter I6 6 Speed
If you were alive during the 90's and were into cars, you more than likely saw plenty of the Toyota Supra. Toyota was smart to put their sports car into as many different marketing avenues as they could. The result was the Toyota Supra showed up in numerous video games including Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto, music videos, and TV shows. Even after they finished producing in the United States it was produced in the iconic street racer film, Fast and the Furious. However, rising emissions standards in the United States would eventually spell demise for the popular Supra and 1998 would end up being the final year the Supra would be offered in the United States. Less than four years later production stopped entirely for the Japanese Sports Car.
This 1998 Toyota Supra twin turbo is an excellent example of how incredible these sports cars were when they left the factory. Today the body looks spectacular covered in a very glossy shade of black on the exterior. This car carries their sports roof option that allows for the driver to bolt in a section of the roof for a coupe version or pop it out and store it in the trunk for a nice, sunny day cruise. At the front of the body you have a Toyota emblem in the dead center of the nose and is flanked by headlights that contain three different sizes of lights. Straight below the lights is the opening for the grille and the running lights. The paint shows no signs of wear on the nose, or as you make your way down the body. Roof on or roof off, the look that the body creates is magnificent. At the back of the car just below the tall rear spoiler is the chrome Toyota Supra Turbo badging.
Pop the hood on this Supra, and you'll reveal an engine bay that has been crammed with a twin-cam, 3.0 liter 6-cylinder that with the help of twin-turbos created 320hp. When we say crammed we mean it, every inch of the engine bay has been filled with some type component. At the top of the engine, the intake designates the engine as being two-way twin turbo setup. Also bolted to the six-cylinder is the original 6-speed manual transmission. The entire setup was good for an electronically limited 155 mph and if you could shift the 6-speed gears fast enough, a 0-60 time in under 5 seconds!
Glance under the Supra and you'll see how the Supra is capable of performing in the corners just as much as it can down the straights. The Supra left the factory with a traction control system, a 4-wheel independent wishbone suspension, and power rack and pinion steering. Power 4-wheel vented disc brakes are responsible for slowing the vehicle, and in front of those brakes are the original 5-spoke aluminum rims that have been wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza rubber.
Open the doors and you'll be greeted by a tan leather interior that accents the black paint scheme very nicely. Capable of housing you and three of your closest friends, the interior shows no signs of wear. In front of the driver is the original steering wheel with the Toyota logo engrained in the center of the wheel. Beyond the wheel is the 6800 redline RPM tach and the 180mph speedometer. In between the two bucket seats is the console that transitions into the dash flawlessly. When you sit in the driver's seat you'll notice how everything is focused towards the driver to make it feel more like a cockpit. Below the bucket seats is like new carpet with Toyota Supra floor mats. The entire interior is an incredible place to log miles from.
The sale of this '98 Toyota Supra includes the aforementioned original window sticker, limited warranty documentation from original sale, pre-delivery service check sheet, original 1998 owner's manual, dyno sheet, and assorted receipts.
For all of the attention that the 60's and 70's get for creating iconic vehicles, let's give credit where credit is due, the 90's did create a few great rides also, and this 1998 twin-turbo Toyota Supra is one of them.
