20,703 Actual Mile Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition
From boulevard cruising to road course bruising, it's hard to find a better all-around performer than a modern Corvette. And once Chevrolet firmly established the car as a global tour de force, it began a constant quest to achieve increasing levels of performance and desirability. A few years back, someone had the great idea of celebrating Corvette Racing's long-fought LeMans success with a special edition Z06. And today, that creation sits as this fully-sorted Corvette Commemorative Edition, which packs superb performance in a comfortable, livable platform. If you're in the market for a cool car that'll hold its own at the cruise night and the stoplight, take a look at this awesome C5!

With less than 21K miles on its bright digital odometer, this razor-sharp coupe is a well-maintained garage queen that's assembly line perfect in virtually every way. Its vivid LeMans Blue two-stage, which is accented with red and silver racing stripes, shows just how far GM paint technology has come from the days of multi-colored Stingrays. The car's lightweight panels display precise fit and excellent finish under ancillary hardware that functions well and seals great. It's very unlikely that body has ever felt anything more aggressive than a soft detailing cloth. And when that level of ownership is combined with Bowling Green's top notch build quality, it creates one seriously capable sports car that'll show well and absolutely blister the road!
Cosmetic appeal aside, this Corvette remains a high performance neck snapper. Lift its sculpted hood and you'll find GM's potent Generation III small block: a forerunner to virtually all the technology still featured in Chevrolet sports cars. Utilizing aluminum construction, flat top pistons and coil-near-plug ignition, the efficient mill is conservatively rated at 405 horsepower and 400 lb./ft. of Kansas-flat torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering performance, it passes all emissions tests, drives like a commuter car and still pulls 26 MPG on the highway! Aesthetically, everything on this LS6, from its pristine wiring to its fresh belts and bright fuel rail covers, reflects a history of fastidious maintenance. Twist the key and the cylinders rumble to life, sending their rhythmic notes through subtle titanium exhaust. And with one tap of the throttle, the engine zings smoothly toward redline.
Slide under this stiff hardtop and you'll find a hydroformed chassis that unites a well-maintained suspension with GM's second generation Active Handling system. Active Handling is a stability control feature which works in conjunction with the car's anti-lock brakes and standard traction monitors to measure lateral acceleration, yaw rate and steering wheel position in hopes of preventing both under and over steer. The suspension itself consists of double A-arms up front and a transverse leaf out back. At the corners, giant, vented rotors are clamped by multi-piston calipers, which sport bright red paint under modern “CORVETTE” scripts. Like most Corvettes, this Z06 strikes a perfect balance between bone shaking firm and Lexus soft, while providing a level of grip that would be right at home under a purpose-built track car. Power flows through a proven Tremec 6-speed to snappy 3.42 gears. Spent gases are mitigated by a well-mannered, factory exhaust system. And rolling stock consists of fresh, 10-spoke blades that spin 265/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1s in front of 295/35ZR18 Goodyear Eagle F1s.
Take a look inside this Chevy and you'll find an impressive leather interior that's clean and to the point. All the car's plastics are fresh, cohesive and exhibit none of the trademark cracking displayed by most of GM's 'big window' rigs. In the dash, easy to read gauges hover over strong, dual-zone climate control and a standard Delco head unit. The power-adjustable, Corvette-branded buckets are extremely comfortable for long hauls. Below those seats, like-new carpet, which displays no thinning or staining, is protected by color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, clean door panels flow the dash's monochromatic color scheme through large Bose speakers. In front of the driver, a pristine factory steering wheel spins between a factory shifter and standard, tilting column. Behind the passengers, a fully carpeted trunk provides adequate room for an overnight get-away. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, cruise control, remote keyless entry and a standard theft deterrent system.
