If you look up “muscle car” in the dictionary, there's a good chance you'll find a picture of a 1970 Chevelle beside it. They're one of America's best loved blends of intermediate proportions and plus-size engines. When we get one like this killer 1970 Super Sport, they don't stick around the showroom for long. This slick '70 Super Sport sold before it even got through our marketing process.

Many enthusiasts believe the '70 Chevelle introduced a host of excellent refinements that transformed the 'good' design of Chevrolet's '69 model into something 'great'. Covered in a fresh correct coat of Fathom Blue, it all starts at the front of this sinister coupe where a familiar crossbar grille hangs a prominent “SS” emblem between a small “CHEVELLE” script, four stainless-trimmed T3s and a fresh chrome bumper. Above that bumper, a functional cowl induction hood anchors rebuilt hide-a-way wipers between new glass, traditional lanyards and pristine stainless trim. At the base of that trim, bright “SS454” badges combine with straight wheel frames, traditional door handles and a flashy chrome mirror to add visual detail to the car's liquid smooth profile. And at the back of that profile, a second chrome bumper centers a black Super Sport inlay between clear brake lights, a classy “Chevelle by Chevrolet” emblem and spotless stainless exhaust tips.

Originally leaving the factory with a 396ci V8, today filling the satin black engine bay is a potent 454ci V8 that cranks out an estimated 450hp. At the top of the cast iron mill, you'll find a Winters aluminum intake manifold that has been outfitted with a Holley 4-barrell that leads to a chrome air filter that rests in the seal for the functional cowl induction hood. Bolted to the powerful big block is a Turbohydramatic 400 3-speed automatic that sends power to a correct 12-bolt rear end. Stopping power comes courtesy of Power disc in the front while power drum brakes are equipped on the rear. In front of those brakes 14” factory styled steel wheels with polished trim rings have been wrapped in Goodyear Polyglas GT bias rubber.

Between the doors, the builders opted to change the original blue vinyl interior to black but kept true to factory styling. The seats are firm and supportive, showing little to no wear, while clean SS-branded door panels hang at either side. The center console makes room for a factory style “horseshoe” shifter and plenty of storage space, topping fresh black carpet below. Instrumentation is stock, but the air conditioning system is a welcome upgrade. Out back, the trunk space is showroom fresh thanks to correct spatter paint, a new trunk mat, proper decals, and a full-size spare.

Included in the sale of this immaculate muscle car is the original build sheet, original vehicle warranty paper work, protect-o-plate, owner's manual, and restoration photos.

This incredible '70 Chevelle SS is proof that cars don't last long under our showroom lights. With an incredible Chevy big block and wonderful restoration, this car is capable of anchoring any collection. Congrats to the new owner out of New Jersey.
