Description

The now famous 2000 remake of Gone in Sixty Seconds did more than just create a new generation of car fans across the nation. It also made the name Eleanor synonymous with nearly every '67 Shelby GT500. Face it, you can't see one today without immediately identifying it with the movie. It also made these silver '67 beasts some of the most sought after rides of all time. When you look at one up close like this Eleanor tribute, it's very easy to see why so many car enthusiasts have this year and model down as their favorite of all time.

Thanks to a recent extensive build in Asheboro, NC today it sits as a gorgeous example of the '67 Shelby known as Eleanor. If you are a fan of the movie you will instantly recognize how authentic this vehicle is. We've proven over the last few months that these Eleanor creations don't last long in our showroom, so if you are in the market for an '67 GT500 or otherwise known as Eleanor, that you can enjoy, then this is the car for you.

Most muscle car enthusiasts credit Carroll Shelby with introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustangs ever created; so it's only natural that the original Eleanor bodywork would be based on his designs. At the leading edge of this re-imagined Mustang a headlight panel holds a pristine grille between two blue driving lights and two crystal clear headlights. Below that grille, a Shelby 'R' style front valence incorporates two correct fog lights into an enlarged air intake which is centered between two driving lights. At the top of the grille, an aggressive fiberglass hood perfectly aligns two hood pins between the car's new fiberglass front fenders and fiberglass front valence; and like-new glass is bordered by straight stainless trim which looks so fresh it could've come right off the showroom floor. The profile of this Mustang presents a slick purpose-built race car appearance which is only interrupted by pristine chrome door handles, correct satin finished bullet style Shelby mirrors, a functional flip up fuel filler, and fender mounted “Shelby GT500” emblems. And at the back of the car, a Black Metallic rear valence, which is flanked by Shelby style extensions, hangs sequential tail lights above a straight and show worthy body-matched bumper and chrome trimmed reverse lights.

Pop the car's lightweight fiberglass hood and you'll find a 428 cubic inch big block V8 that gives new meaning to the words “Go Baby, Go”! At the top of the Ford Blue block, a “COBRA” branded air cleaner funnels fresh wind into a big Edelbrook intake via a Holly 4-barrel carburetor. At the sides of that carburetor, finned “428 Cobra Jet” valve covers hang over the headers. In front of those headers, a MSD distributor sequences spark through beefy Autolite professional series plug wires. Aesthetically, the restored engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even coat of Satin Black paint. And everything, from the motor's chrome dipstick and Red pressure gauge to the bay's Ford washer bag and brace bars, is fully sorted and ready to go.

Put this Eleanor on a lift and you'll see how underneath the car received plenty of upgrades as well. Right away you will see that the front suspension was completely restored and utilizes a stock suspension setup to ensure that from behind the wheel that Eleanor handles just like she did in 1967. For the rear suspension, a rear traction bar, rear air shocks, and hydraboosted rear brakes were added. Bolted to the powerful engine is a 5-speed manual transmission that sends power to a Ford 9-inch that houses a posi-differential. You will also see the Magnaflow side exhaust that creates a breathtaking sound when the 428 roars to life. Stopping power comes courtesy of front power disc brakes and the aforementioned hydraboosted rear drum brakes. In front of those brakes are 17” American Racing rims that have been wrapped in grippy Nitto rubber.

Take a look inside the car and you'll find a highly accurate, vinyl interior which looks so crisp and well done that it could've been used for close-up shots in the actual movie. At the center of the car, Carroll Shelby stitched bucket seats wear G-force 5-point harnesses. Below those seats, new carpet props stitched Shelby GT500 Cobra floor mats, and a great looking Hurst shifter. At the front of the car, a spectacular dash hangs Pro-Comp Ultra-lite gauges sit in front of a GT500 wood and aluminum steering wheel attached to it. In the center of the dash you'll see a vintage radio that sends tunes through great speakers. Ultimately the interior is immaculate and a great place to log miles from.

Absolutely no expense was spared on this 1967 Mustang GT500 Eleanor tribute. It combines professional grade performance hardware with what is arguably one of the best-looking Mustangs of all time to create a take-no-prisoners muscle car. If you're looking for an instantly recognizable classic that is scary fast and an absolute blast to drive, we have the car for you!
