Description

When it comes to nearly universal appeal, few American cars bring it quite like the Ford Mustang. While a lot of its competitors placed an emphasis on speed, style, or some other singular piece of the puzzle, the Mustang did its best to be everything to everyone while providing a solid foundation to build upon. While almost all the dials have been turned up, this restored 1965 Mustang continues to be a car that virtually any enthusiast could hop behind the wheel of and have an absolute blast. From the stout 358ci V8 and Tremec 5-speed manual to the vibrant orange exterior and restored pony interior, everyone who has a chance to eye the car in person will find something different to admire.

Originally leaving the factory as a 2-door standard fastback equipped with a modest 289 C-code V8, today it sits as one an extremely custom Mustang. Drawing heavily on a performance muscle car theme, thanks to its upgraded powerplant and modified suspension, this show quality Stang falls somewhere between pro-tourer and resto-mod. It starts with the body that was covered in a fresh vibrant orange coat of paint that makes it stand out even in a showroom full of 250+ classic cars like ours.

It's obvious that Ford has always sweated the details on the Mustang. And with its completely new brightwork and bolt-on pieces, this fastback presents a professionally finished appearance that goes far beyond nice paint. At the front of the car, new headlights anchor a stylish billet grille between a fresh chrome bumper and chrome trimmed bullet-style parking lamps. Behind that hood, pristine glass rides between new stainless wipers, bright stainless frames and a small racing mirror. At the sides of that glass, a traditionally sculpted profile lays the groundwork for shaved fenders, rolled quarters, classic chrome handles and Shelby cove scoops. And at the back of that profile, a second show worthy bumper reflects factory-fresh tail lights, highly detailed fuel filler and a chrome exhaust tips sit below the rear bumper.

Hoist this fastback's snug fitting hood and you'll find a Ford 351 Cleveland V8 that has been overbored to 358 cubic inches to create plenty of true Ford power. The beneficiary of an extensive build, the 358 sounds incredible and produces an estimated 400hp with similar torque numbers. At the top of the cast iron mill, a Holley 4 barrel carburetor is fed air through an aluminum Shelby inspired air filter. At the sides of the air filter chrome Ford racing valve covers provide some nice pop to the engine bay. When the cast iron heads flood the cylinders, an MSD distributor sends spark into the cylinders through Taylor wires. The resultant gases are jettisoned through ceramic coated headers and enter in to a true dual exhaust setup equipped with an X-pipe. The combustion's cooling is provided by a large BeCool aluminum radiator and helped by a tall electric puller fan. Overall the car's custom engine compartment is exceptionally well done, featuring first rate ancillaries.

The bottom of this awesome Mustang is just as impressive as its slick exterior and smooth engine bay. Behind the mean motor you'll find a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission that sends power to a tried and true Ford 9-inch rear axle. The other thing you might have noticed in the engine bay and will definitely see it from underneath the car, is the builders opted to cut out the front shock towers and equipped it with a modern double A-arm front suspension setup complete with adjustable coil-over shocks and front sub-frame connector. While at the back of the car, holding the Ford 9-inch off the ground is a leaf spring rear suspension setup. Spent gasses travel out the aforementioned headers through dual exhausts equipped with an X-pipe and chambered flowmaster mufflers that create a magnificent muscle car sound. At the corners of the car, gorgeous 17” Billet Specialties polished wheels put power to the ground thanks to Goodyear Eagle rubber.

Open the door to this pristine '65 Mustang and you'll find a fully restored cockpit that mixes the best elements of the 'Pony Interior' with standard black vinyl that provides an exceptionally attractive starting point. The Deluxe interior bucket seats wear new pleated Pony covers and incorporate a custom carbon fiber design. Above the seats the black dash appears as if it came straight out of the box yesterday morning. Inside that dash, a traditional black instrument panel holds a full assortment of brand new Autometer gauges between new chrome knobs for the cars accessories. Below that dash, a tilt steering column houses an impressive chrome spoked and black trimmed steering wheel. At the bottom of the car, new black carpet is protected by heavy duty, Mustang branded floor mats. Above the driver and passenger a custom black headliner has the look of carbon fiber throughout it and stretches from the front of the car to its fully restored and correctly finished trunk. Speaking of the trunk, inside you will find a 10-disc CD changer from Sony performance and the car's battery.

Absolutely no expense was spared on this killer Mustang! It combines professional grade performance hardware with one of the coolest bodies in the hobby to create a take-no-prisoners Pony Car. Thanks to its bored over 351 Cleveland and its killer look, this '65 Mustang is ready to provide years of enjoyment to a lucky buyer. If you are looking for a fully sorted classic that's scary fast and an absolute blast to drive, Congratulations, you've found your next car!
