Description

Have you been paying attention to F1 Camaro sales? Great cars are being snatched up for strong money and big returns almost as fast as they hit our showroom. In fact, at RK Motors Charlotte, we retail more first class Chevys than anyone in the world. And so far in 2014, we've sold NINTEEN first generation Camaros to very satisfied enthusiasts! But here's the kicker: as striking as those classics are, none pack quite the punch of this correct, Fathom Green cross ram Z/28. And, when you throw in the car's professional, frame-off, restoration, its $90K asking price becomes a tremendous value! If you're a serious pony car enthusiast who's looking for a clean, correctly sorted showpiece, you're staring at your next car!

One look at this awesome pony car's original VIN and cowl tag suggests it's a real deal X77 Z/28.

Steal a glance at this clean Camaro and you'll feel like you've stepped right back in time to when the car triumphantly debuted at your local Chevrolet dealership. Its correct Fathom Green two-stage is deep and glossy, riding on bodywork that appears to have been sparingly performed. That metal presents straight and solid from every angle, with even gaps that suggest someone really took their time aligning panels. And all that hard-edged goodwill is topped by a pair of Dover White rally stripes which foretell exactly the asphalt patterns the car's vicious small block engine aims to paint. Ever heard the saying “a wolf in sheep's clothing”? Yeah, whoever popularized that phrase must've owned a Fathom Z/28!

The overall look of this restoration-fresh F1 is beyond factory perfect. And with its flashy combination of metallic green paint and spectacular chrome trim, it'll even turn your local Raccoons into rabid Chevy enthusiasts! At the front of the car, a familiar gray grille hangs a bold “Z/28” emblem between bright halogen headlights, a showroom-fresh bumper, clear parking lamps and a correct D80 chin spoiler. Behind that grille, a “302” branded cowl induction hood sits between a familiar “Camaro BY CHEVROLET” header emblem and like-new glass that's reflected in small chrome mirrors, traced by straight stainless trim and cleared with matte-finished wipers. At the sides of that hood, sculpted fenders hang ornate RS quarter louvers and a correct array of emblems between traditional door handles and dent-free rocker moldings. And behind those fenders, a fourth “Z/28” emblem and segmented taillights ride between a correct D80 decklid spoiler, a second showroom-fresh bumper and bare stainless exhaust tips.

Hoist this classic's solid steel hood and you'll be delighted to find a rare Winters cross ram intake on top of a 302 cubic inch high performance V8. At the top of that “DZ” stamped mill, a pair of correct 4295 Holley carburetors mix fuel from fresh stainless fluid lines with oxygen that's supplied by a chrome, diagonally-mounted air cleaner. Behind those carburetors, a familiar points distributor shoots electricity through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. At the sides of those carburetors, correct 'camel hump' heads hang polished and finned valve covers -- Z/28-specific items cribbed from the Corvette parts bin, over ceramic-coated, long-tube headers. And in front of those carburetors, a heavy duty radiator utilizes reproduction GM hoses and fresh tower clamps to send water around a correct alternator and factory optioned power steering pump. Aesthetically, Chevy Orange is the order of the day when you're talking V8 engines in F1 Camaros. All the little details, such as correct stamps, a rebuilt Delco Moraine brake booster and a reproduction Delco Energizer battery complete what is otherwise a show worthy package. And mechanically, the ferocious 302 snarls and barks like a real competition piece, sounding especially good when its Holleys hit full tilt.

Under this awesome Chevy you'll find a factory-fresh chassis and super-solid floorpans that, like the car's straight exterior panels and storied small block, have been restored to excellent standards. Behind that small block, a rugged 4-speed wears a 1969 (9) model Muncie (P) M21 (B) assembled on October (R ) 21st (21), 1969 build stamp under a matching partial VIN. That proven gearbox spins beefy 3.73 gears, which hang under a correct 12-bolt (QX) Eaton posi-trac (E) that was assembled on December (12) 21st (21), 1969 during the first shift (1) at Detroit Gear & Axle (G) assembly stamp. Holding that legendary drivetrain off the ground is a fully rebuilt suspension that sports 100% factory specifications. Included in that suspension is factory power steering and optional JL8 power disc brakes. Inside those brakes, a chambered, NOS exhaust system sends charred dinosaurs through correct bare tail pipes. At the corners of those pipes, silver Rallys spin vintage looking E70-15 Goodyear Wide Tread GTs around straight trim rings and classy turbine center caps. And clean steel floors, which are covered in a smooth coat of Satin Black paint, serve as the perfect backdrop for a new stainless fuel tank and a full assortment of stainless hardware.

The Standard, Black interior hiding behind this F1's small, lightweight doors illustrates the true, no frills intentions of Chevrolet's original pony car. Its bucket seats were restored with new backs, new foam, optional headrests and correct reproduction covers that look and feel fantastic. In front of those seats, a fresh black dash exhibits no signs of warping or cracking, from its optional clock all the way to its correct Delco radio. At the base of that dash, a straight console anchors factory-optioned accessory gauges in front of a chrome Hurst shifter. That seat, dash and console trifecta is completely framed by a tight headliner, fade-free carpet and familiar door panels that are lined in bright stainless trim. In front of the driver, a prerequisite GM Rally Wheel spins satin-finished spokes around a red, white and blue horn button. And behind the passengers, a correctly restored trunk seals a new mat under a fresh tire and jack combo.

The sale of this investment grade Camaro includes a partial ownership history and a stack of restoration receipts.

Who wouldn't want a highly exclusive F1 Camaro that's better-than-new in virtually every way? This incredible Z/28 retains authentic muscle car feel while adding a professional, frame-off restoration to an already awesome ownership experience. If you're in the market for a highly correct classic that's fully detailed and ready to hit the road, welcome to the Chevrolet family!
