Description

The second generation Corvette might just be one of the best cars ever created. Extremely fun to drive with plenty of power and striking good looks, these Chevys inspire a cult like following and provide one of the most enjoyable ownership experiences on the planet. This well-done '63 pro-tourer is an amazing classic that, thanks to a 480 horsepower Chevrolet Performance small block and substantially improved aesthetics, is ready for years of endless cruising. Want to put some killer American muscle in your garage for about HALF the price of a ground-up build? Check out this slick split-window Vette!

An exceptionally solid survivor, this stunning Sting Ray was completely disassembled, carefully modified and professionally restored by an enthusiast who wanted to capitalize on timeless beauty and decades of improving technology. As you can tell from our high resolution photos, the car is razor-straight, no doubt requiring minimal work to present better-than-new aesthetics. Once its body was stripped and sufficiently prepped, layers of Deep Black base were sealed in clear, carefully wet-sanded and buffed to a brilliant shine. And today, this Corvette rolls as a glowing Chevy road warrior that, in addition to having much more presence than a candy-tinted classic, wears an appearance worthy of its exceptional design and world-beating performance.

The second iteration of America's favorite sports car debuted a much more assertive demeanor thanks to GM's renewed dedication to motorsports. And that newfound aggression is especially prevalent in this coupe's edgy detailing. The car opens with a shaved clip that centers a painted grille between clear, factory marker lamps. Above that grille, a '63-exclusive hood leads the eye to glossy trim which, along with glossy windshield wipers, highlights dark-tint glass. At the sides of that hood, a shaved profile hangs familiar bowtie mirrors between Deep Black rocker guards and traditional, body-matched door handles. And at the back of that profile, a subtle, Corvette-branded fuel filler rides above clear taillights, factory bumpers and large, center-mount exhaust pipes.

Gaze upon this Chevy's fully finished engine bay and you'll find 6.2 liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376, that smooth crate engine twists respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 480 horsepower and 475 lb./ft. of everyday torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering, low-end performance, it revs to 6,600 RPM and regularly achieves over 20 MPG! Up top, a polished air tube and reusable BBK filter element funnel wind in to a factory-spec throttle body. That air marries fuel under rectangular-port, L92-style heads. That volatile marriage is compressed by a nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons. Power is made by a racing-inspired LS Hot Cam that, thanks to longer duration, maximizes intake efficiency. There's a beefy aluminum radiator that's fitted with two electric puller fans. And fresh AC Delco plug wires combine with chrome ancillaries, modern power steering and an old school Harrison overflow tank to detail otherwise purpose-built performance.

Park this Vette on a lift and you'll find a sturdy SRIII Motorsports chassis that's been bolted to clean floor tubs and bathed in subdued, Satin Black pigment. Behind the stout small block, a rugged Richmond 5-speed twists torque to a tough Competition Engineering Fab 9 that's stuffed with Strange axles and 3.83 gears. That first class drivetrain rolls on a C4-style independent suspension that's fitted with proven QA1 coil-over-shocks. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. Power-assisted stops are provided by 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors and red, fifth generation Corvette calipers. Exhaust rolls from GM manifolds to coated, Mandrel-bent pipes that employ an X-shaped crossover in front of throaty Flowmaster mufflers. Power spins chrome, sixth generation Corvette wheels, which wear two 245/40ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As and two 285/35ZR19 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As. And everything from this Chevy's brake lines to its fuel filter is built solid, professionally finished and ready for action.

Pop the lightweight doors and you'll find a black leather interior that continues the car's monochromatic visuals. Front and center, modern Corvette buckets feel both comfortable and supportive. In front of those power seats, a stylish dual-cowl dash hangs Vintage Air Gen IV climate control beside Auto Meter American Muscle gauges. At the edges of that dash, custom side panels anchor billet door and window handles above sculpted armrests and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels, clean carpet features stain-free shading thanks to Corvette-branded floor mats. At the center of that carpet, a factory console frames a beefy Long shifter. In front of the driver, a polished Lecarra steering wheel spins a leather-wrapped rim around a bright Corvette horn button. And behind the passengers, a small storage compartment features a polished fire extinguisher.

The sale of this buff C2 includes a receipt for its GM-supplied engine.

Taking the market by storm over 60 years ago, America's favorite sports car remains some of the hottest metal on the planet. This split-window pro-tourer is a high quality build that features a potent drivetrain, a modern suspension and many well-executed touches which make it the perfect combination of show and go for any red blooded car guy. There really isn't a better hobby on earth than owning a classic car, and driving this striking coupe is the perfect way to celebrate that hobby!
