Description

Want a super cool cruiser that's ready to roll? How about one with some of the best vintage styling ever draped over two doors and four tires? If the answer is a resounding “YES”, this 1937 Ford Cabriolet is exactly the car you've been searching for! With its reliable GM V8, smooth automatic transmission and rich Burgundy on Beige color combination, this custom is an ideal classic for anyone who enjoys exploring the open road. If you're looking to add a little spice to your weekend routine, here's the perfect way to take Sunday drives to a whole new level!

Assembled from the ground up, this drop-top's smooth and solid fuselage began life as high quality fiberglass that was carefully molded, structured and streamlined by Coast to Coast Street Rods. Once that resin completely cured, it was gifted a vivid coat of brilliant Diamont two-stage by Extreme Customs of Temperance, Michigan. And today, with nary a ripple or misaligned panel anywhere, this sophisticated Ford mixes enough utility to hush old school skeptics with enough polish to be front row at the local car show!

The beauty of a well-done custom is often found in the simplicity of its execution. In a nod to the hobby's old school hot rodding roots, the best cars are usually topped with a stripped down, all business body that emphasizes their purpose-built, high performance nature. So, when you craft a first class offering like this sweet '37 Ford, the best thing to do is let its original curves do the talking and simply enhance what's already there. Our enhancements begin with flowing fiberglass fenders, which center a chrome grille between chrome-trimmed combination headlamps. Behind that grille, a lightweight hood and hidden windshield wipers anchor clean glass between small mirrors and a retractable Rod Tops roof. Below that glass, shaved doors seal solid along smooth fiberglass running boards. Behind those boards, an electric decklid rides between Hagan 9-inch, flush-mount tail lamps. And overall, the car's clean build creates one cohesive classic that, despite significant customization, is both tasteful and easily recognized.

In the auto enthusiast world, there are few bigger faux pas than something that promises performance but doesn't deliver. “It looks fast” just doesn't cut it with real car guys, so the old school flathead Ford that might traditionally power this drop-top has officially been swapped for a fully detailed GM LS1 V8. Utilizing aluminum construction, flat top pistons and coil-near-plug ignition, the efficient mill, donated by a 2004 Pontiac GTO, is conservatively rated at 350 horsepower and 365 lb./ft. of Kansas-flat torque. Aesthetically, GM's Corvette fuel rail covers have been augmented with a glossy combination of Burgundy and Beige two-stage. A low-profile, “LS1” branded air filter combines with a Street & Performance throttle body to feed factory-spec internals. There's a beefy aluminum radiator that's fitted with an efficient puller fan. EFI Inc. programming combines with braided fluid lines, trick dipsticks and AC Delco plug wires to add both form and function. And with one twist of the key, the engine zings to life, pulsing rhythmic notes through factory-spec manifolds.

Naturally, this Ford's fully-finished body rides on a fully-boxed chassis that's been assembled to exacting standards. The proven LS1 torques a tough 4L60E 4-speed, which spins a familiar Ford 9-inch around 3.10 gears. That custom drivetrain pushes a fully adjustable Air Ride suspension. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to a Corvette master cylinder, a 7-inch brake booster and 11-inch, GM-style discs at all four corners. At the center of the floor, 2.5-inch true-dual exhaust breathes through stainless pipes and throaty Magnaflow mufflers. At the corners of the chassis, polished Bonspeed Huntingtons turn 205/45ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 255/45ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As. And everything, from the car's stainless fluid lines to its stainless, 20-gallon fuel tank, is well-planned, well executed and ready to work its magic!

Pop this roadster's lightweight doors and you'll find a clean leather interior that was professionally installed by Krist Kustoms of Fort Wayne, Indiana. At ground level, Beige carpet weaves a thick cover beneath Lokar foot pedals and color-keyed floor mats. At the center of that carpet, leather-wrapped thrones ride on removable seat risers. Between those thrones, a custom console hides controls for the car's Air Ride suspension behind billet power window switches and Hot Rod Air conditioning. In front of that console, a body-matched dash hangs a full array of Auto Meter gauges above a touchscreen, MP3-compatible Jensen CD/DVD player. At the sides of that dash, custom door panels sport contoured pulls and small, billet handles. In front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel spins around a tilting Flaming River column. Behind the cockpit, a surprisingly large trunk founds clean carpet in a billet and leather frame. And everything communicates thanks to American Autowire Highway 22 electronics.

The sale of this classy cabriolet includes a small stack of component manuals.

It doesn't matter whether you're a Ford guy, Mopar guy or Chevy guy, this custom transcends barriers and claims universal appeal. The car's great looks, great performance and great color combo all add up to a great cruiser that can be driven and enjoyed every day of the summer. Indulge as is, or tinker with it to make it sharper, either way you'll have a high value classic which enjoys excellent curb appeal!
