----------

You already know that RK Motors Charlotte has a thing for Chevrolet's most famous muscle car. From their long list of options and stacks of documentation to their hundreds of cubic inches of big block bliss, we've brought you some of the most mind-blowing, potent and flat-out brutal Chevelles the market has ever seen! And from the insane Maurer-built custom we sold in November to the rare Hugger Orange coupe we featured a few months ago, we continue to be your number one source for anything that starts with the letters C, H, E and V. After all, what's not to love about a classic that defines the dominant era of Chevrolet ingenuity, showcases an unparalleled era in American culture and represents the best era of Detroit's manufacturing might? Absolutely nothing; and that's why this buff resto-mod, with its 489 cubic inch big block, upgraded driveline and classy red on black aesthetics, is the perfect piece for the muscle car fan who enjoys hitting the road AND the show!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a 2011 rotisserie restoration, this nouveau Super Sport wears a clean and solid body under glossy Bolero Red 2-stage. Despite its custom drivetrain, the car's trim and ornamentation remain just as the General specified. At the front of its body, a black Super Sport grille centers a prominent “SS396” emblem between a new chrome bumper, small parking lamps and bright, halogen headlights. At the top of the car, a chrome-trimmed Super Sport hood combines with straight stainless frames, polished stainless wipers and a bright white roof to cage like-new glass. At the sides of the car, red-inlayed fender emblems and quarter-mounted “Super Sport” scripts hint at the true nature of the big block's personality, while traditional door handles and a chrome bowtie mirror perfectly complement dent-free wheel lips and Super Sport rocker moldings. And out back, a black Super Sport valance hangs vintage taillights and a second “SS396” emblem above a second chrome bumper and crystal clear reverse lamps.

ENGINE

Few cars fit the 'muscle car' description better than a Chevelle. Clocking in at exactly 489 cubic inches, this coupe's buff stroker twists stout 10.4 to 1 compression into epic horsepower and loads of low-end torque. Naturally, the internally balanced mill is stuffed with an impressive roster of hardware, including an Eagle crank, Eagle H-beam rods, MAHLE pistons, an Edelbrock cam, Edelbrock lifters, Edelbrock pushrods, and ARP bolts and studs. Demon tri-power carburetion combines with Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers, an HEI distributor and Accel Extreme 9000 plug wires to kick start combustion. A billet frontrunner system spins Cloyes timing components and a high quality Stewart water pump behind an electric puller fan and polished aluminum radiator. And items like chrome valve covers, a polished Demon air cleaner and a Milodon 7-quart oil pan add both form and function.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

That tweaked mill spins power through a McLeod dual-friction clutch to a Tremec TKO500 5-speed. That transmission is hooked to a 12-bolt Moser rear end, which is fitted with a 3.73 gears and a posi-traction differential. That drivetrain rolls on a traditional double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension. Modern power steering is a welcome addition to any muscle car. Stops are provided by power-assisted disc brakes. Ceramic-coated, long-tube headers flow into aluminized pipes, which breathe through great sounding Flowmaster mufflers. And, at the corners of the car, chrome Foose wheels spin 245/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 295/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.

INTERIOR

This Chevelle's thorough restoration included the installation of a correct Black interior. Firm bucket seats ride between fresh floor mats and a chrome Hurst shifter. A familiar Super Sport dash, equipped with deluxe gauges, is augmented by a small tachometer. A digital AM/FM head unit is present and accounted for. Vintage Air climate control makes mid-summer cruising as easy as the twist of a knob. In front of the driver, a 3-spoke, “SS” branded steering wheel spins around a polished and tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk features a correct jack and full-size spare tire.
