BODYWORK/TRIM

Logging only weekend miles since its complete, ground-up reboot, this mean Corvette is a decidedly clean cruiser. During its in depth restoration, the car's solid, fiberglass body was thoroughly massaged to correct most of the typical waves and ripples that came standard from GM's St. Louis manufacturing facility. With those cosmetic semantics complete, a finishing phase took the form of aggressive block sanding. And finally, everything was layered in correct Bright Blue basecoat, sealed in glossy clear and buffed to a fantastic, wet-look shine.

ENGINE

Tilt this coupe's hood and you'll find an original, 427 cubic inch L72 V8 that hangs a correct 3869942 casting number behind an October 14th, 1965 casting date, correct “IP” assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. At the top of the Chevy Orange mill, a correct 3247 Holley rides between a chrome, correctly-decaled air cleaner and bright, stainless fluid lines. Below that carburetor, a familiar 3885069 Winters intake funnels a perfect air/fuel mixture in to correct 3873858 high performance heads. When the juice hits the cylinders, a reliable 1111093 distributor sparks fresh, stainless-sleeved wires while a stock rotating assembly pushes spent gases through correct 3856301 and 02 exhaust manifolds. Cooling for that fire is provided by a beefy GM radiator, which hangs in front of a correct 1100696 alternator. And overall, this Chevy's tidy engine compartment is exceptionally well done; framing items like a correct water neck, a correct starter and correct transistorized ignition in clean, Satin Black fenders.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Not surprisingly, the bottom of this pavement-pounding Vette is rock-solid and ready to roll. Behind the awesome big block, a correct 3885010 Muncie makes good use of a tough 3871375 rear end that's fitted with correct “FA” 3.70 gears. Turns come courtesy of traditional manual steering. A full assortment of disc brakes provides confident, drama-free stops. Impressive, true-dual exhaust funnels spent gases through correctly chambered side pipes. The car's hit-free floors perfectly complement a straight, Satin Black chassis. All that reliable hardware rolls on old school aluminum turbines, which spin 255/70R15 BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial redlines around traditional knock-offs. And little details like stainless fluid lines and fresh shock absorbers ensure years of carefree cruising.

INTERIOR

Open this C2's tossable doors and you'll find a correct Bright Blue interior that appears to have been completely replaced during the car's extensive rebirth. Seating comes courtesy of firm vinyl thrones, which are anchored between fresh seatbelts, bright stainless trim and a shallow console that's centered on a small shifter. From the driver's perch, a traditional clock and Delco AM/FM radio ride between rebuilt gauges and an aluminum-trimmed glovebox. Below that interface, like-new carpet balances aftermarket floor mats between fresh chrome sills and high quality HushMat insulation. At the side of that carpet, stainless-trimmed door panels hang small armrests and traditional handles inside stylish, color-keyed accents. In front of the driver, an Eric Freeman Teak steering wheel spins around a brilliant cross-flag emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully carpeted storage compartment boasts enough room for two suitcases and a bag of detailing supplies.
