RK Motors Charlotte is home to some of the coolest muscle cars on the planet, and we've built our reputation on bringing you the best MoPars money can buy. Over the past seven years, we've sold more Hemi-powered Chryslers than anyone. And when we tell you this national award winning coupe is one of the finest 'Cudas on the market, it's coming from first-hand experience. Not only is this fully documented Plymouth the beneficiary of a professional, paint-shop-fresh restoration, its numbers-matching Hemi/A727 drivetrain is 1 of only 368 produced for the 1970 model year. So, now that we have your undivided attention, it's our pleasure to bring you one of the nicest Hemi 'Cudas we've ever seen!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Assembled in Hamtramck, Michigan in November of 1969, this spectacular pentastar is the beneficiary of a professional restoration that was completed in the fall of 2014. During that thorough rebuild, the car's arrow-straight body, which includes solid-closing doors on top of excellent panel alignment, was stripped to bare metal, massaged into shape and thoroughly block-sanded into virtually flawless surfaces. Once those surfaces were completely clean and fully prepped, a spectacular coat of correct Black Velvet 2-stage was buffed to a brilliant shine. And, according to the car's original owner, this clean Plymouth now rolls as a precise replication of its fall 1969 appearance with the exception of its bright silver shaker. Of course, thanks to the in-house professionals at our own RKM Performance Center, we can easily refinish that shaker to its correct, body-matched hue in keeping with the authenticity of early Hemicuda builds.

Thanks to a 1970 redesign, the 'Cuda lost all commonality with its Valiant stablemate and finally traded its lowly economy car lineage for the square-jawed muscle car image we all know and love. At the front of this rare road warrior, a gray, “PLYMOUTH” branded grille hangs crystal clear headlights above a bright chrome bumper and familiar, GE-sourced driving lamps. At the top of that grille, a “hemicuda” branded shaker props traditional stainless pins in front of like-new glass, straight stainless trim and a correct chrome mirror. At the sides of that shaker, textured rocker guards, dent-free wheel frames and pristine Chrysler door handles highlight a smooth, professionally finished profile. And at the back of the car, a Satin Black valence hangs like-new taillights and a cool “'cuda” emblem above a second chrome bumper and square stainless exhaust tips.

ENGINE

Toss this coupe's light hood and you'll find an original, 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 that's authenticated by a famous 2468330 casting number and matching partial VIN. As Plymouth's top option for power hungry gearheads, Chrysler's legendary elephant block utilizes cast iron heads, an oversquare bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. All that high performance hardware spins in a glossy, Hemi Orange block that hangs attractive, Organisol-coated valve covers over correct, low-restriction exhaust manifolds. A perfect mixture of fuel and air is supplied by correct Carter carburetors and a correct aluminum intake. Compression is sparked by high quality Chrysler Electronic Suppression wires, which are snapped onto a correct points distributor. And resultant combustion is cooled by a big, 26-inch radiator that's fitted with fresh, Chrysler-branded hoses via old school squeeze clamps. Visually, the car's Black Velvet engine compartment is clean and understated… Well, as understated as a classic Hemi can be. The big mill performs as well as it ever has. And naturally, details like factory decals, a reproduction MoPar battery and a familiar Chrysler washer reservoir have been professionally restored or completely replicated.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Slide under this spotless E-Body and you'll find a solid chassis that's ready for the turntable. Glossy black 2-stage highlights exceptionally clean floors that have been finished to better-than-new condition. Behind the Hemi, an original A727 Torqueflite is tight and shifts like new. That stalwart gearbox sends power to a correct Dana 60 Super Performance axle, which spins a posi-traction differential around 3.54 gears. Naturally, that spirited driveline hangs in a completely restored suspension, which is fitted with factory power steering. Stops come courtesy of standard power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust is handled by aluminized tubes that bend around an H-shaped crossover, Chrysler-branded mufflers and factory-correct resonators. And all this MoPar goodness rolls on Black Velvet wheels, which twist F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around satin Plymouth Division center caps.

INTERIOR

Swivel this Plymouth's level doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that's functional, straightforward and very livable. The front bucket and rear bench seats are wrapped in pliable vinyl covers that display hardly any signs of wear. Below those seats, stain-free carpet centers a correct, wood-trimmed console between “'cuda” branded floor mats and a correct Slap Stik shifter. At the sides of that carpet, black door panels proudly hang the Cuda name above traditional cranks, integrated handles and small chrome locks. In front of those panels, a “Barracuda” branded dash seats standard telemetry above a familiar Chrysler Solid State. In front of the driver, an attractive, wood-trimmed steering wheel mixes subtle form with major function. And behind the passengers, a nicely finished trunk centers a correct jack and Space Saver spare tire between a correct mat and new decklid decal.
