These days, with the popularity of motorcycles on the rise, it's not hard to find great looking custom bikes. But how many of those customs actually have a perfect combination of proven dependability and jaw-dropping curb appeal that'll provide years of happy ownership? I mean, you can always go out and find some pieced together beater that was built by the president of your local Jesse James fan club. Or you can walk in to our showroom and fire up this tough 1996 Harley-Davidson Road King that features a proven V-twin engine, a modern 5-speed transmission, and a whole roster of high quality parts that were designed, fabricated and assembled by one company. Proven, sorted and ready to hit the road, this super clean 2-wheeler is an exercise in bare-knuckle Americana. And if you're one of the many riders who likes to spend more time enjoying your bike than working on it, it's just your style!

APPEARANCE

Originally introduced in 1941, Harley-Davidson's FL tourer line runs the gamut from Knucklehead antiques all the way to modern Softails. Thanks to smooth, flat black paint, this sinister FLHR Road King features a unique and decidedly aggressive appearance. At the front of its frame, the dark vibes start with a clean fender that flows past a conservative rake to a traditional fuel tank. Simple and classically shaped, that attractive tank, equipped with a factory console, breaks perfectly in to a wide saddle. That saddle hangs a small passenger's seat and matching backrest over hard bags and a second fender that's fitted with an LED brake light. Overall, this Harley features cool, Mad Max-style aesthetics that are sure to age just as well as their high quality components allow.

ACCESSORIES

Designed and built to mix timeless visuals with today's best modern technology, there are plenty of rider-friendly features that make owning this hog a very pleasant experience. Up front, fat chopsticks ride between a polished headlamp, curved handlebars, Harley-Davidson grips and wrapped brake handles that control a Harley-Davidson brake system for confident stops. Between those brakes, polished Vance & Hines pipes let the whole neighborhood know you've arrived in style. And below those pipes, forward-mounted controls let the rider kick back, stretch his or her legs and chase the sun.

SUSPENSION

Beneath this Road King's attractive facade, Harley-Davidson engineers took their time crafting a rigid frame that's capable of handling the rigors of extended cruising. All of the chassis' electrical components are artfully hidden to ensure a premium appearance and excellent fit and finish. Harley's slick suspension is great at ensuring hours of pleasant traveling. That ride comes courtesy of solid wheels, which spin pliable Dunlop Touring whitewalls. And naturally, the bike's steering and maneuverability is specifically tuned in a way that create's a unique riding experience for each individual.

DRIVETRAIN

Widely considered the best motorcycle engine ever made, Harley's legendary V-twin is the powerplant of choice for even the most extreme customs. So it's only fitting that this awesome Road King boasts an 82 cubic inch Evolution V-Twin engine that turns 61 horsepower into an excellent riding experience. More powerful than the 74 it replaced, the brand's Evolution mill features much improved drivability and performance. And, behind that top-notch motor, a 5-speed transmission takes care of applying 75 lb./ft. of torque directly to the pavement.
