As dedicated gearheads who sweat 30-weight motor oil, we strive to deliver the finest investment grade muscle cars on the planet. And this sinister Plymouth, 1 of only 234 Hemi-powered 4-speed Road Runners built to U.S. specs for the 1969 model year, is pretty much the definition of investment grade. Wrapping an original Hemi and correct 4-speed in correct black on black aesthetics, this incredible MoPar combines some of the nastiest muscle your money can buy with one of the best looking packages to ever prowl American streets. And what's better: as the beneficiary of a top-notch restoration, it's a fully documented head turner that's ready to roll straight out of the showroom and right on to the show field! If you're one of the many enthusiasts patiently watching our inventory pining for the next blue chip MoPar, it looks like your wait is officially over!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a highly accurate restoration that was completed in the summer of 2011, this fully sorted Plymouth mixes killer street presence with classic MoPar attitude. The restoration began with a mostly original body that, according to the car's state-issued titles, has only traveled 10,089 miles. Naturally, that solid fuselage was carefully stripped, lightly massaged and thoroughly block-sanded into a collection of virtually flawless surfaces. Once those surfaces were completely clean and fully prepped, their all-business demeanor was reanimated in smooth 2-stage that reflects evil Black Velvet pigment. And today, this exclusive, lust worthy classic rolls as a spectacular 'show and go' piece that's so cool it'll make you feel guilty!

Every bit of this B-Body's bright ornamentation appears straight and presents well. And while it's really hard to determine whether all those baubles and bolt-ons are original, they certainly look nice! At the front of the car, a restored grille hangs four halogen headlamps between an off-set “PLYMOUTH” script, a clean chrome bumper and crystal clear parking lights. Behind that grille, a "HEMI" branded hood centers sinister inserts between a factory antenna and satin finished windshield wipers. Above that hood, like-new glass rides behind pristine stainless trim, new chrome drip rails and a simple driver's mirror. Below that glass, a wet looking, monochromatic profile anchors traditional Chrysler door handles and vivid Road Runner call-outs between requisite marker lamps. And at the back of the car, a trim-free decklid hangs a small "HEMI emblem, a small "road runner" script and a bright road runner decal between factory fresh tail lights, polished stainless exhaust tips and a second clean bumper that's dotted with clear reverse lamps.

ENGINE

Toss this coupe's light hood and you'll find an original, 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 that's authenticated by a famous 2468330 casting number and matching partial VIN. As Plymouth's top option for power hungry gearheads, Chrysler's legendary elephant block utilizes cast iron heads, an oversquare bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. All that high performance hardware spins in a glossy, Hemi Orange block that hangs attractive, Organisol-coated valve covers over correct, low-restriction exhaust manifolds. A perfect mixture of fuel and air is supplied by correct Carter carburetors and a correct aluminum intake. Compression is sparked by Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables, which are snapped onto a correct points distributor. And resultant combustion is cooled by a big, 26-inch radiator that's fitted with pliable hoses via old school squeeze clamps. Visually, the Velvet engine compartment is clean and predictably impressive. Thanks to the car's thorough rebuild, the big mill performs just as well as when it rolled out of the showroom. And naturally, a roster of correct and restored details includes items like factory decals, a reproduction MoPar battery, an old school washer reservoir and a purple Road Runner horn.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Slide under this solid B-Body and you'll find a virtually spotless chassis that's fully sorted and ready for the show. Glossy black paint highlights exceptionally clean floors. At the center of those floors, a correct A833 4-speed makes quick work of the big Hemi's power. Behind that gearbox, an upgraded Dana 60 axle serves as a nice substitution for the car's original Super Track Pak rear end. Naturally, that spirited driveline hangs in a completely restored suspension, which centers a manual steering rack between Cosmoline-look torsion bars. Stops come courtesy of power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust is handled by large-diameter tubes, which bend around an H-shaped crossover, throaty turbo mufflers and polished stainless tips. And all this MoPar goodness rolls on Black Velvet steelies, which twist F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval redlines around Plymouth Division center caps.

INTERIOR

Swivel this Plymouth's level doors and you'll find a familiar Black interior that's functional, straightforward and very livable. A correct front bucket and rear bench seating combination is wrapped in pliable vinyl covers that display hardly any signs of severe wear. Below those seats, stain-free carpet frames a correct Hurst shifter. At the sides of that carpet, black door panels perfectly complement black door frames. In front of those panels, a “road runner” branded dash seats standard telemetry above a familiar Dodge Solid State. In front of the driver, a simple steering wheel spins a correct horn bar around a colorful Road Runner centerpiece. And behind the passengers, a nicely finished trunk hides a correct jack and spare tire between a plaid mat and new decklid decal.
