As owners of classic cars, we're all nostalgic people. But as unique as old cars are, and as romantic as past times seem to be, there's no denying the positive effects of technology. For instance, a modern smart phone that connects you to the world in the blink of an eye is much better than some old rotary unit that's cord-bound to the wall. And I know you'll agree that a sharp, flat-screen TV is much more entertaining than a heavy tube that's made of shadows and ghostly figures. So what's a classic car lover to do when they're torn between golden era style and modern car technology? They take a good, long look at this killer Corvette roadster! Combining classic Chevy form with a supercharged LS2, an exclusive Newman Car Creations chassis and a leather-lined interior, this awesome C2 is a ground-up build that mixes the best aspects of yesterday with the best advancements of today. If you're in the market for a solid collectable that's comfortable, fast, reliable and absolutely stunning, this no-compromise Vette is your next ride!


Not completely devoid of character, like so many traditional, era-correct restorations, this road-ready roadster is an exhilarating combination of retro glitz and modern glam. Appearing both solemn and official, its Jet Black paint reflects an excellent shine that literally glows when crouched under the sun. That liquid-smooth BASF Diamont 2-stage covers a super clean body, which was massaged into shape by American Muscle Car Mania of Summerdale, Alabama. That body's razor-sharp lines display no sign of botched repairs or historic damage. And today, this Sting Ray rolls as one stunning, arrow-straight showpiece that has no gremlins, suffers no thin spots and displays a level of finish that's worlds above assembly line fodder.

The great thing about building a pro-touring C2 is: the aggressive look most enthusiasts strive for is pretty much standard factory fare. At the front of this striking Sting Ray, a stainless, body-width grille is caged between red, white and black cross-flags, chrome-trimmed parking lamps and a traditional 'razor blade' bumper. Above that grille, an aggressive Stinger Hood frames a brilliant BASF Diamont Stinger Stripe. Behind that hood, bright wipers, fresh stainless trim and weather-free canvas shape clean, factory-tint glass. Below that glass, simple heat extractors lead chrome door handles, a trademark bowtie mirror and correct rocker guards. And behind those guards, 1.5-inch widened quarters center an ornate fuel filler, traditional taillights and a stainless antenna above two more 'razor blade' bumpers.


That cool combination of rayless pigment and classy metalwork is certainly pretty, but now it's time to get serious. Widely considered one of the world's greatest powerplants, GM's 6.0 liter LS2 utilizes aluminum construction, an LS6-spec cam and upgraded fuel injection to mix hours of thrills with miles of efficiency. But, sometimes, 400 horsepower just isn't enough. Luckily, the folks at Magnuson Superchargers sell products like this Corvette's polished MagnaCharger blower. At the front of that turbine, a custom air tube funnels wind into an 80mm BBK Power+Plus throttle body. At the sides of the block, Corvette Z06 headers make quick work of quick combustion. GM serpentine components spin a Sanden AC compressor opposite modern power steering. A beefy Be Cool radiator works seamlessly with 11-inch cooling fans. And high quality American Auto Wire wiring makes sure everything communicates well.


Park this Chevy on a lift and you'll find a powder-coated Newman Car Creations chassis that's bolted to clean, Satin Black floor tubs. Behind the stout LS2, a tough hydraulic clutch engages a reliable Tremec 6-speed, which twists torque to a rugged Dana 44 third member. That pumpkin spins big, 3.73 gears, which turn quality carbon fiber half shafts. That first-class drivetrain rolls on a fifth generation Corvette independent suspension that follows aluminum control arms with Bilstein shocks and a sturdy Vette Brake Products leaf. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and solid stops are provided by four power-assisted calipers. Exhaust rolls from the previously mentioned headers to chambered and shielded side pipes. And power flows through chromed C5 Z06-style wheels, which spin 245/45ZR17 Michelin Pilot Sports in front of 255/40ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sports.


Open the car's tossable doors and you'll find a plush leather interior that's founded on Dynamat Dynaliner insulation. Seating comes courtesy of modern, power-adjustable thrones, which anchor embroidered headrests between fresh lap belts and a small console that's centered on a traditional-style shifter. From the driver's perch, a black and red dash hangs direct-fit audio beneath a modern clock and familiar Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite telemetry. Beneath that dash, like-new carpet floats color-keyed mats under billet foot pedals. At the edges of that carpet, monochromatic door panels hang bright stainless trim in front of factory power windows. In front of the driver, a classy aftermarket steering wheel laps a polished, tilting column. Behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered storage nook centers a Custom Autosound CD changer between crisp Memphis Car Audio speakers. And Vintage Air climate control makes the whole cockpit a great place to enjoy comfortable summer cruising.
