Want to know the best thing about the collector car hobby? The fact that there's a car for everyone. Thanks to roughly 100 years of interesting metal, pretty much any enthusiast can find whatever they want when it comes to restoration, investment or simply hitting the open road. Here at RK Motors Charlotte, we enjoy sharing our passion with all types of gearheads. But, as you probably know, our specialty is classic American muscle. That's why we continue to feature head-turning showstoppers like this sweet Chevelle Super Sport. With big block power, row-it-yourself gears, iconic looks and a fresh restoration, this Chevy epitomizes the appeal and swagger of old school Detroit iron. Want to spend some quality time wrapped in octane-rich Americana? Here's the scene you've been looking for!
BODYWORK/TRIM
A mere 7 miles out of a detailed, rotisserie restoration that was completed in the Winter of 2015, this Chevelle wears $12K of Velvet Red 2-stage that's so smooth it could be described as 'wet-look'. Under that finish, solid body panels align well, forming an impressive profile that's sure to inspire stares for years to come. At the front of that profile, a familiar Super Sport grille hangs a bold “SS” emblem between a broad bumper and bright halogen headlights. Behind that grille, a shaved header flows to a stylish cowl induction hood, which fronts fresh, stainless-trimmed glass. Beneath that glass, a shaved profile floats traditional door handles between bright wheel frames and correct chrome mirrors. Opposite those mirrors, a second broad bumper frames clean taillights, a shaved decklid and a shaved, body-matched valance. And all those bolt-ons, when combined with the car's fresh finish and impressive stance, ensure a grand influx of memorable compliments!
ENGINE
Looks aren't the only thing that inspire great memories. Toss this Chevy's hood and you'll find a clean, 396 cubic inch big block that was rebuilt, thoroughly polished and substantially tweaked during the car's extensive restoration. A rich mixture of air and fuel comes courtesy of a familiar Holley 4-barrel, which floats between polished fluid lines, and a painted and polished air cleaner. That carb rides on a painted Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet intake, which is threaded to the Chevy Orange block via bowtie-branded bolts. At the edges of that plane, lightweight aluminum heads hang polished aluminum valve covers between a polished Mr. Gasket breather and coated long-tube headers. Between those headers, a light cam turns a modern HEI distributor, which sequences spark through loomed Packard Silicone Suppression cables. In front of those cables, traditional V-belts spin a painted water pump between a polished alternator, a Sanden AC compressor and modern power steering. And that pump feeds a beefy, chrome-capped radiator that's strung beside a modern, Delco-topped battery.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
When the engine roars to life, it spins torque to a Muncie M21 4-speed, which twists power to a tough 12-bolt axle and big, 3.73 gears. That pumpkin pushes a factory-spec suspension that's been fully rebuilt and professionally refinished. Turns come courtesy of factory-style power steering. Stops are provided by a predictable combination of discs and drums, which get flooded by a The Right Stuff Detailing brake booster. There's a 2.5-inch exhaust system that growls through Flowmaster dual-chamber mufflers. That hardware rolls on polished American Racing blades, which turn 225/50R17 Nitto NT450 Extreme Performance redlines in front of 255/50R17 Nitto NT450 Extreme Performance redlines. And everything, from the polished oil pan to the polished fuel tank, looks excellent against this Chevelle's Satin Black frame and vibrant red floors.
INTERIOR
Between the doors you'll find a fresh black interior that's been customized where it counts. Front and center, red-stitched TMI Sport R buckets perfectly complement a red-stitched, suede-trimmed bench. A red-stitched dash frames Deluxe telemetry, Vintage Air climate control, an MP3-compatible K&C Harrison stereo and Equus accessory gauges. Beneath that dash, a traditional console balances a red-stitched armrest behind a traditional Hurst shifter. A fresh headliner melts into red-stitched door panels, which border fade-free carpet. The driver guides a reproduction Chevrolet Rally Wheel. And the passengers stash valuables beside a color-keyed wheel and full-size tire inside a fully finished trunk.
