----------

Flashy muscle cars are fun, and crazy customs are nice, but there's really nothing cooler than well-done '50s Americana. Comfortable, polished and acutely detailed, classic Chevrolets just ooze style. And this striking Chevy 210 is a carefully restored stunner that mixes 400 cubic inches of small block V8 with a professional grade driveline and clean, traditional upholstery. If you're looking for a first class collector car that's road ready, show-ready and just plain fun, here's the perfect way to enjoy the scene!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Delightfully vintage and decidedly fresh, this slick, post-free 210 is proof that Chevrolet's decision to take a curvaceous fuselage, weld it to a sweeping roofline and decorate it with an ample amount of chrome was an excellent idea. Unlike the exaggerated designs of the late '50s and early '60s, the car's proportions are spot-on, there's appropriate use of trim, and the sharp rear fins that would eventually grow to controversial wings are fully integrated into attractive, planar surfaces. Judging by a quick glance at its profile, this Chevy was an extremely solid piece when its high quality, frame-off restoration began. Nonetheless, its body was stripped to bare metal and virtually perfected in a thorough rebuild that included a restored undercarriage and classic white-on-red aesthetics. And today, roughly 10 years and 3K miles later, the car rolls as one fantastic tri-five that creates a 1-car parade everywhere it goes!

Owned by the same person since the completion of its restoration, and stashed in climate controlled storage for most of that decade, this Bel Air's careful detailing remains every bit as nice as its highly polished 2-stage. That detailing begins with a guarded, body-width bumper, which founds a polished grille between chrome-trimmed headlights and clear, chrome-trimmed parking lamps. Above that grille, an ornate header crest reflects a prominent 'jetbird' hood ornament. At the sides of that crest, classic tri-five stainless traces small mirrors, traditional door handles, an optional gas door guard and classy “Bel Air” scripts. Above those mirrors, curvy stainless trim combines with electric RainGear wipers to frame a factory-tint greenhouse. And, opposite those wipers, factory-spec taillights illuminate a second Chevrolet header, chrome Chevrolet emblems, a second guarded bumper and polished stainless exhaust tips.

ENGINE

Pop the hood and you'll find a reliable, 400 cubic inch Chevrolet small block that's been fully rebuilt, fitted with 350 connecting rods and capped with ported 441 heads. 9.7 to 1 compression is created when a tasteful chrome air cleaner floats wind in to an Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet intake, by way of a Carb Shop Stage 2 4-barrel. At the perimeter of that intake, finned, Chevrolet-branded valve covers hang a chrome GM oil cap over Corvette Ram's Horn exhaust manifolds. Behind that cap, a Mallory Unilite distributor sequences spark between a chrome Flame-Thrower coil, Pertronix electronic ignition and proven Taylor plug wires. At the front of those wires, traditional V-belts spin a rebuilt alternator, a Sanden AC compressor and a short FlowKooler water pump behind a 17-inch pulley fan. And in front of those ancillaries, a 4-row Desert Cooler radiator fronts a large SPAL puller fan. Despite being a thoroughly upsized piece, the Chevy Orange mill looks right at home in the car's spotless engine compartment. And details like a coated fuel pump, a chrome Holley regulator, a liquid-filled JEGS pressure gauge, a Lokar dipstick and quality Painless wiring mix first-rate looks with first-rate functionality.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

During its frame-off restoration, this 210's original 'Glide Ride' suspension was fully rebuilt with a 1.25-inch front sway bar, Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks and tubular upper control arms. Above that suspension, rust-free floorpans, secured by urethane mounts, are dressed in Oxide Red undercoating. Behind the stout small block, a fluid GM 700R4 4-speed spins a familiar 10-bolt axle that's equipped with a posi-traction differential and 3.42 gears. Turns come courtesy of Classic Performance Products 605 power steering. Braking is handled by a combination of Master Power discs and factory-spec drums. Spent gases rumble through 2.5-inch Car Chemistry exhaust, which hangs an H-shaped crossover in front of aggressive turbo mufflers. Stainless fluid lines, stainless hardware and urethane suspension bushings, installed at the time of restoration, show little to no weathering. And everything rolls on mirrored Ridler 695s, which spin 225/55ZR17 Kumho Ecstas in front of 235/55ZR17 Kumho Ecstas.

INTERIOR

Featuring a stunning array of red and white accents, this tri-five's carefully restored interior is both clean and impressive. At the center of the car, firm bench seats wear a striking amalgamation of convertible-style vinyl. On the doors, 2-tone panels hang correct handles and chrome power window switches under glossy, color-keyed frames. At the floor, fresh California Carpet floats thick, Bel Air-branded mats between straight Fisher sills. On the roof, a tight headliner backs a sculpted mirror and fully re-chromed bows. At the front of the cockpit, a painted dash hangs bowtie-branded stainless around factory telemetry, Vintage Air climate control, digital accessory gauges and a Custom Autosound tape deck. The driver navigates the road through a stylish, 3-spoke steering wheel, which laps a large Auto Gage tachometer. And behind the passengers, a clean package tray props large Linear Research speakers and a cool, bowtie-themed Center High Mount Stop Lamp on a correctly restored trunk.
