BODYWORK/TRIM

ENGINE

The newest incarnation of Chevrolet's venerable mill utilizes Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing and direct fuel injection to provide a reliable mix of Main Street efficiency and world class performance. A perfect amount of oxygen flows from a hood-fed filter element through a familiar GM throttle body to a lightweight composite intake. That oxygen mixes with fuel under high-flow cylinder heads that were freshly engineered for the GM Gen V family. When those heads open, spent gases roar through hydroformed headers, close-coupled catalytic converters and aggressive, vacuum-actuated mufflers. There's a redesigned cooling system that, like the aforementioned heads, is unique to this ilk of small block. And all those components happily thrive on everyday pump gas!

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

For the most part, Corvettes have always been great track cars, and this slick drop-top benefits from decades of engineering prowess and a few tricks learned by Chevrolet's own Le Mans race team. The car's wide fenders frame a 5-mode independent suspension that benefits from GM's familiar Active Handling Stability Control. At the center of the floors, a paddle-shifted 6L80 6-speed transaxle engages a limited-slip differential and sporty, 3.42 gears.
