BODYWORK/TRIM

Built without any regard for expense, this 1955 Sedan Delivery is a no-compromises showpiece that was restored to be comfortable on the road. Naturally, that nut-and-bolt rotisserie reboot netted a solid, rust-free body. That body, exhibiting clean fit and excellent finish, has been bathed in brilliant red 2-stage and buffed to a glossy sheen. And the result is one rockin' hot rod that, roughly 380 miles out of the paint shop, is sure to elicit double takes wherever it goes!

One thing about classic car guys is they're uncanny ability to methodically plot, plan and execute even the minutest details. On this Chevy, those details start with a body-width bumper that props a chrome guard in front of a straight stainless grille, clear parking lamps and chrome-trimmed headlights. At the top of that grille, an ornate Chevrolet header reflects a classic 'jetbird' hood ornament. At the back of that hood, fresh frames and polished windshield wipers highlight like-new glass. At the base of that glass, correct mirrors and a classy antenna lead traditional door handles. And at the back of the car, a dark-tint backlite reflects a small handle, a second Chevrolet crest, stylish taillights and a second body-width bumper.

ENGINE

Pop the hood and you'll find a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet small block that's been fully rebuilt and thoroughly updated. Revs are created when a polished air cleaner floats wind in to a polished Edelbrock carburetor, which feeds a polished Edelbrock intake. At the perimeter of that intake, iron Chevrolet heads hang polished rocker covers between old school exhaust manifolds and a bowtie-branded breather. Behind that breather, an aftermarket distributor shoots spark through loomed Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires. In front of those wires, traditional V-belts spin a polished alternator and chrome AC compressor above modern power steering. In front of those ancillaries, a beefy cross-flow radiator frames dual factory horns. And, despite being a thoroughly modern piece, the Chevy Orange mill looks right at home in the car's Gloss Black engine compartment.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Park this Chevy on a lift and you'll find solid, Gloss Black floors that, along with a Gloss Black frame, sport a restoration-fresh appearance. At the center of those floors, a dressed 700R4 4-speed makes good use of a factory-spec rear end. That road-ready pumpkin drives a factory-spec suspension that's been lowered at all four corners. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. Solid stops occur when a chrome brake booster squeezes power to big front calipers and big rear drums. Aluminized exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through small, glasspack-style mufflers and polished stainless tips. And all that premium hardware rolls on polished Boyds wheels, which spin 225/40ZR18 Ohtsu FP8000s in front of 275/35ZR20 Ohtsu FP8000s.

INTERIOR

There is no shortage of tri-fives with custom leather interiors, but a car this comfortable is always a stand out. With modern air conditioning and a modern sound system, all the expected conveniences are present and accounted for. One of the best additions to the cabin is a pair of plush, power-operated seats. In front of those seats, a Gloss Black dash frames rebuilt telemetry with cool, bowtie-branded stainless. At the sides of that dash, sculpted door panels hang Gloss Black window frames over small armrests and polished handles. The carpet is extra clean, topped with a custom console and rugged Bel Air floor mats. In front of the driver, a color-keyed steering wheel spins a polished horn ring around a polished gear selector. And behind the passengers, a leather-lined cargo hold feels big enough to house a small block party.
