---------------

Survivor cars have grown in popularity in recent years, and when you present cars like this 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille it's easy to see why. Even in the collector car word, a vehicle that's been driven than 1,200 miles in a year is a pretty respectable offering. When you have a car that's been driven less than 1,200 miles in the span of nearly 40 years, you've got something special! Driven less than 30 miles per year during its lifetime, this Caddy is a highly-optioned coupe that keeps its original character in a classic Carmine Red lacquer. Topping the package off with leather and power options, it's the perfect gateway to high-end Detroit luxury at an entry-level price. Don't miss your chance on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity before the value curve starts moving upward!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Not devoid of all character like so many fresh frame-off restorations, this Cadillac's finish carries just the right amount of wear under a lovely patina and soft shine that simply cannot be duplicated with today's perfected paint processes. Originally referred to as GM code 80 Carmine Red, the car's vivid hue looks completely appropriate and has a good amount of shine under the Cabriolet roof finished in code 11 Cameo White. That roof presents exceptionally well for its age, and shows no signs of abuse or neglect. Under that single stage paint, the car certainly appears to wear all original OEM sheetmetal, with no signs of botched repairs or accident damage in the past. By 1971, the auto industry's love affair with excessive chrome was long over, but that doesn't mean this Cadillac isn't wearing some very impressive trim. Both the front and rear bumpers are massive pieces that are in such good shape that it's hard to believe they're factory original. Where ever your eye leads you on the massive sheetmetal, one thing is evident; this car received some very meticulous care throughout its ownership. And adding a vintage touch and speaking more to this car's originality is the remanent of the car's original emission sticker still attached to the rear driver's side window.

ENGINE

Cadillac always had a fondness for using big displacement engines, and the 425 cubic inch L33 V8 that powers this Coupe DeVille is a testament to that. While there were engines in the GM powertrain stable that may have generated more power, this one was designed to idle almost silently, pull the heavy car along with the thrust of an electric motor and create merely a whisper from the tailpipe. All of the car's original ancillary items are still present and accounted for from the satin black air cleaner and 4-barrel carburetor to the leak-free power steering pump and giant cast iron exhaust manifolds. And the GM Corporate Blue paint that covers the block not only backs up the car's survivor pedigree, but also its extremely low mileage due to no signs of fading or chipping from the paint.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Underneath the car you'll find a solid and well-maintained chassis that, while nice, is not so immaculate that you have to worry about hitting a wet road after an afternoon thunderstorm. Behind the engine, GM's stalwart Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission shifts gears almost imperceptibly all the while spinning a set of highway friendly gears which provide the smooth ride Cadillac customers had come to expect. Steering is one finger effortless, and the car's brakes are both powerful and reliable. And at the corners, steel wheels wear Cadillac wire wheel covers and are wrapped in P225/75R15 Firestone FR380 whitewall tires.

INTERIOR

Swing open those long doors to find a welcoming and perfectly preserved two-tone interior that crowns a front and rear white leather bench on top of clean red carpet. A long red dash is accented by familiar wood grain trim, and it creates an excellent contrast to the white door panels that are highlighted with the same wood grain trim and red carpeting below. You'll find all of the luxuries you'd expect in a highly-optioned Cadillac such as air conditioning, power windows, 6-way power adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, and power door locks.

OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION

If you're interested in this flavor of classics, you've probably discovered the same reality that we have: nice ones are virtually impossible to find. They're either rusty heaps or half-baked restorations with a lot of questionable workmanship because the values just aren't there to justify the quality work. That's why low-mileage originals are so special; they give you an extremely high-quality car with no question marks attached. Don't miss your opportunity to own probably the nicest, lowest-mileage, all original Coupe DeVilles on the planet!
