Description

Here at RK Motors Charlotte we sell A LOT of first generation Chevrolet Camaros. In our current inventory, we have a few numbers matching and specialty cars that are perfectly suited for trailering to shows, and they're priced accordingly. However, we also cater to customers who want cars that don't cost a fortune which can actually be driven shows and enjoyed as they were originally intended. This frame up restored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS convertible features a great color combination, an awesome big block motor, and excellent drivability that delivers exactly what you've been waiting for.

Recently frame up restored, this 1969 big block Camaro displays bodywork that is nothing short of immaculate. Every panel is aligned to better than assembly line fit and all the cars seams are narrow and precise. On top of the well-done body, correct GM code 72 Hugger Orange shines under traditional bright white racing stripes. A lot of effort was put into making sure this cars paint looks as slick as glass, and the result is vibrant orange paint that displays an excellent finish and would look right at home reflecting a summertime car show. At the front of the car, a stainless trimmed grille is painted black and features a centered “SS” emblem with a white inlay. On either side of that grille, hidden headlights are part of the Rally Sport appearance package and feature upgraded electric stainless trimmed doors. Below the headlights and grille, a showroom quality chrome bumper and clear marker lights with amber bulbs sits above an option code D80 front spoiler that is supported by correct braces. On the header panel a “Camaro by Chevrolet” emblem looks fresh out of the mold and sits in front of an optional, but familiar steel cowl induction hood. At the rear of the hood a new windshield is cleared by intentionally dulled stainless wipers and is surrounded by bright, dent free stainless trim all the way from the cowl to the correct GM code A white convertible top. The sides of the car are nicely decorated with standard stainless rocker moldings, stainless wheel well trim and optional stainless door edge guards. On the doors, you'll find like new chrome rear view mirrors and GM door handles, and on the right front fender you'll find a new chrome antenna. Behind the front tires, chrome “Camaro” emblems are displayed above white inlayed “SS” emblems, and match front fender mounted “454” emblems that hint at something hotter than normal under the hood. Behind the doors, black and chrome Rally Sport louver trim is one of the coolest details of the car and displays no chips or weathering at all. At the rear of the car, an option code D80 rear decklid spoiler sits above classic Camaro stainless tail lights and a centered white inlayed SS emblem with a black back plate. Below those lights another showroom quality bumper includes optional bumper guards and sits above chrome trimmed Rally Sport exclusive reverse lights.

Under the hood, a great performing Chevrolet 454 is dressed in Chevrolet Orange and accented with chrome. Air flows through a chrome air cleaner into an electronically choked Holley 770 four barrel carburetor that is fed by dual stainless fuel lines. The resulting air fuel mixture makes its way from an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap aluminum intake manifold to Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads that are topped with pristine chrome valve covers. Exhaust then exits the motor through ceramic coated long tube headers that flank a seven quart high capacity oil pan. Behind the carburetor, an HEI distributor sends power from an MSD ignition to MSD Super Conductor performance plug wires, and on the left side of the motor, a new master cylinder hangs on the firewall behind a polished Vintage Air AC compressor. On the right side of the motor a chrome alternator hangs from a chrome bracket to charge a reproduction Delco battery, and in front of the motor a heavy duty radiator is cooled by a correct fan. The car's engine compartment is exceptionally clean featuring a Hugger Orange firewall behind satin black fenders and including details such as chrome brace bars, a chrome thermostat housing and correct insulation under the cowl induction hood.

That same attention to detail and performance was carried over underneath the car as well. Power from the tweaked and fueled 454 goes to an Auto Gear Super Case M20 Muncie 4-speed. Behind that M20, a factory driveshaft is secured by a driveshaft hoop and spins a familiar GM 12 bolt rear end with pavement pounding 3.55 gears. The car retains its factory front disc and rear drum brakes along with a factory correct front double A-arm and rear leaf spring suspension, but a few high performance pieces have been sprinkled into the mix and make a big difference in driving characteristics. A beefy rear sway bar combines with adjustable QA1 shocks for better turning and launches, and welded sub frame connectors ensure that the 454 V8 doesn't twist the car enough to do any damage. Exhaust flows from the coated long tube headers into dual chamber Flowmaster mufflers and exits at the rear of the car for a familiar and awesome sound track. New floorpans are clean and freshly restored in GM satin black and small touches like a finned aluminum differential cover, a new stainless fuel tank and stainless fuel and brake lines take care of the details. Keeping the power to the ground is 16 inch polished aluminum American Racing Torq Thrust IIs that are mounted to 225/55 Firestone Firehawk performance radials.

Inside the car you'll find the restored correct GM code 727 Ivory and Black vinyl interior to be in excellent shape with the deluxe Ivory seats, new door panels and new kick panels contrasting well to the cars black carpet and orange exterior. The black dash houses a speedometer, an AC tachometer and an optional electric clock and displays no warping or fading. To the right of the gauges, controls for the cars Vintage Air climate system are an OEM appearing direct fit piece that sits above a direct fit bowtie tape deck and controls for the cars 10 disc trunk mounted Pioneer CD changer. The bottom of the dash features wood veneer that perfectly matches the wood veneer around the cars Hurst shifter and the wood rim on the cars optional machined aluminum Rally wheel. In front of the Hurst shifter, you'll find traditional first generation four pack gauges that might not be very reliable, but certainly look cool. New black carpet is protected by “SS” labeled black floor mats and anchors black lap belts that appear to be in good shape. The door panels feature correct “Camaro” emblems and new stainless trim that runs to a white convertible boot which is in like-new condition. Behind the cockpit, the trunk that has been correctly restored with spatter paint and includes a correct houndstooth mat, spare tire and jack.

Documents for this car include an owner's manual and receipts from the restoration.

If you're in the market for a super nice Camaro that you can cruise down the open road and drive to the local show, your search is over. This expertly restored 1969 convertible features handsome good looks, a lot of power and is loads of fun. Why prolong your satisfaction and strain your bank account building a car like this when you can just walk into our showroom and enjoy instant gratification for half the cost? Call today!
