Ground Up Restored Camaro Restomod ZZ454 469hp V8 5 spd A/C Deluxe Interior
For most enthusiasts, the privilege of owning a classic car isn't about numbers or return on investment. It's about heading out on the weekend and having a little bit of fun. It's about making a statement and turning heads. It's about the excitement of putting the wind in their face and the roar of an American V8 at their back. That's why rides like this awesome Camaro have such a loyal following. Sure, you'll probably see another one at the show. And it might not turn into a six-figure asset over the next decade. But, it's cool, it's stylish, it's unique and, most importantly, it provides a whole lot of enjoyment! Want to make it yours? Your friends at RK Motors Charlotte are happy to help!
BODYWORK/TRIM
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration, this panther wears a vibrant coat of Hugger Orange 2-stage that's as smooth as it is glossy. Under that pigment, solid body panels align well, presenting the kind of fit and finish that's common on high level builds. That alignment serves as an excellent canvas for Tuxedo Black Rally Stripes. And those stripes parallel a full register of Rally Sport bolt-ons to complete an impressive, head-turning profile.
Those baubles begin with a tasteful Rally Sport grille, which hangs a legendary “Z/28” emblem above a broad bumper, Rally Sport parking lamps and a requisite D80 chin spoiler. Behind that grille, a Camaro-branded header leads the eye through a requisite Cowl Induction Hood, which fronts polished wipers that clear tinted and stainless-trimmed glass. At the base of that glass, correct mirrors reflect traditional door handles and a factory antenna. Beneath those handles, standard rocker spears combine with dent-free wheel liners to trace ornate fender emblems, small marker lamps and optional quarter louvers. And at the back of the car, a second broad bumper and second D80 spoiler cage a vivid “Z/28” badge and crisp Rally Sport tail lamps.
ENGINE
Looks aren't the only thing that inspires great memories. Toss this Chevy's hood and you'll find a brutal GM Performance Parts ZZ454 big block that turns a hearty 9.6 to 1 compression into 469 horsepower and 519 lb./ft. of blur-inducing torque. A rich mixture of air and fuel is supplied by a 770cfm Holley Street Avenger, which floats between polished fluid lines, a small pressure gauge and a polished, Chevrolet-branded air cleaner. That carb rides a lightweight Chevrolet intake, which is bolted to the Jet Black block via lightweight, oval-port heads. Those heads plant stamped rockers between polished breathers, polished Chevrolet valve covers and long-tube Hedman Hedders. Between those headers, a hydraulic roller cam spins with a forged steel crank, forged steel rods and forged aluminum pistons. At the back of those internals, a trusty HEI distributor sequences spark through loomed Taylor plug wires. In front of those wires, March Style Track serpentine components spin an Edelbrock water pump between a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor and a polished power steering pump. And cooling is provided by a big DeWitts radiator, which is parked between a polished cap, a polished support and dual electric puller fans. Aesthetically, the engine compartment continues this Chevy's striking theme of orange and black pigment. And, everywhere it strays, the eye is met with quality ancillary components, like billet brace bars, a polished master cylinder, a billet thermostat housing and a polished brake booster.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
When the big engine jumps to life, it spins torque through a reliable Tremec 5-speed that, thanks to Arizona Driveshaft and Differential, makes excellent use of a 12-bolt rear axle. That no compromises powertrain pushes a factory suspension that's finished with KYB Excel-G shocks. Factory-style power steering turns that suspension. Stops come courtesy of power-assisted discs and drums. There's a large-diameter exhaust system that thunders through an H-shaped crossover and dual-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Everything rolls on stainless-trimmed Rally Wheels, which twist 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And, aesthetically, this Chevy's Satin Black floors look restoration-fresh in virtually every way.
INTERIOR
Open the doors and you'll find a timeless Deluxe Interior that's spiced with neo convenience where it matters. Top dead center, a 69-exclusive dash hangs requisite AC telemetry between modern air conditioning and seamless Custom Autosound audio. Opposite that dash, plush vinyl buckets feature Deluxe headrests. Between those thrones, a wood-trimmed console founds a short Hurst shifter behind optional 4-pack accessory gauges. Under that console, restoration-fresh carpet floats color-keyed mats between familiar Deluxe door panels. The driver traces pavement through a wood-trimmed Rally Sport steering wheel. And the passengers stash essentials in a carpeted trunk.
