BODYWORK/TRIM

The hot pickup's smooth and solid body began life as a run-of-the-mill ½-ton that was maintained, driven and paraded for most of its existence. During a detailed, frame-off restoration, that old school metal was stripped, sanded, married to fiberglass fenders and layered in brilliant Torch Red 2-stage. At the front of that pigment, a fiberglass shell centers a contoured grille between a steel hood, a polished bumper and modern, dual-mode headlights that feature polished casings. Those casings reflect steel doors, which hang polished mirrors and polished door handles over steel, stainless-trimmed running boards. Opposite those boards, a chopped and filled greenhouse founds smoked glass beneath a flush-fit LED taillight. That taillight is the same tone as a lit “'37 Ford” bed script, which casts an intense glow under the truck's chassis. Speaking of this Ford's bed, it's an all-steel cocoon that stretches clean wood planks between a mirrored front panel and a billet fuel filler. And at the back of that bed, a custom roll pan plants LED tail lamps beneath a Ford-stamped tailgate.

ENGINE

Great looks are only part of this pickup's appeal: it also does a very good job of going really fast and making lots of awesome noise! Levitate the car's tidy hood and you'll find a 347 cubic inch Ford stroker motor that churns big horsepower into ample torque. At the top of the bright silver mill, a polished and red-trimmed air cleaner funnels wind in to a coated Holley 2-barrel that's cinched to a lightweight aluminum intake. At the front of that intake, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, sequenced to a spry MSD coil, utilizes loomed Taylor “Super Red” wires to fire eight massive cylinders. Those cylinders combust between polished breathers, aluminum heads, color-keyed Ford Racing valve covers and coated BBK headers. At the front of those headers, billet pulleys spin a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. At the front of those ancillaries, a polished Be Cool radiator centers a painted puller fan beneath a corrugated coolant tube. And niceties like braided hoses, trick dipsticks, trick hood supports, a coated fuel pump, a Lokar throttle linkage, and a smoothed and mirrored firewall add to the truck's form and function.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Every good street rod has a solid foundation. Flip this Ford upside down and you'll find a roster of mechanical improvements that mix classic looks with modern mobility. A beefy 3-speed spins power through a 9-inch axle. That smooth drivetrain rides a modern frame, which mixes a full outfit of QA-1 coil-overs with a Mustang II front-clip and a 4-bar rear-clip. Turns come courtesy of manual rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by power-assisted discs and drums. There's a stainless exhaust system that snakes through polished Magnaflow mufflers. And everything rides on polished Billet Specialties wheels, which spin 205/50ZR17 Hankook Ventus V12s in front of 275/40ZR18 Hankook Ventus V12s.

INTERIOR

Decked in 2-tone leather, this pickup's tidy cockpit is both stylish and comfortable. A Torch Red dash hangs billet-trimmed VDO telemetry above a flowing console that's centered on modern Kenwood audio and Vintage Air climate control. Modern bucket seats wrap tight hides over thick bolstering. Those thrones are framed in clean carpet, plush panels, billet hardware and modern power windows. And in front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel laps a polished, tilting column.
