CLASSIC GOOD LOOKS
Completing an intricate transformation from solid Detroit steel to lean, mean Chevrolet dream machine, this stylish F1 displays bodywork that's nothing short of excellent. The car's ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration dressed an original Camaro body that appears to have never seen major rust or significant damage. And glossy DuPont 2-stage seals deep black pigment under a red Stinger Stripe and mirror-like shine. At the front of that shine, a monochromatic Rally Sport grille hangs a bright “SS” emblem above clean parking lamps and a fresh chrome bumper. Behind that grille, a pinned and “LS2” branded Stinger Hood leads the eye to fresh glass that's framed in straight stainless trim. At the sides of that glass, classy chrome mirrors and traditional GM door handles join fresh rocker trim to add just the right amount of flash to the car's clean profile. And at the back of that profile, a billet fuel cap and '67 Camaro-exclusive taillights split the difference between a D80 spoiler, a second chrome bumper and Rally Sport reverse lamps.
MODERN GM POWER
In keeping with unspoken tradition, this Chevy proudly displays small “Fuel Injection” emblems on its fenders to warn would be challengers of its hot powerplant. Lift the car's lightweight fiberglass hood and you'll find a potent, 6.0 liter small block that's dressed as a modern LS2. Up top, GM's familiar intake and contoured fuel rail covers feature “CAMARO LS2” branding. Up front, there's a beefy radiator that's fitted with a massive Flex-A-Lite Syclone puller fan. To the left, a conical, reusable filter element feeds a clean, stainless-trimmed air tube. To the right, a chrome-capped Optima battery makes sure the fires get lit, even in the worst elements. Aesthetically, the engine bay looks fantastic with the cast iron mill and textured core support accented by Satin Black fenders and chrome brace bars. And one twist of the key zings the powerplant to life, pulsing rhythmic notes through high quality Hedman Husler Hedders.
UPGRADES GALORE
Take a gander under this slick F-Body and you'll find a fully detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. At the center of those bones, a proven Tremec 5-speed makes good use of a tough hydraulic clutch. Nail the gas and a 10-bolt, Perfect Launch-branded rear end spins a tough posi-traction differential around 4.11 gears. Stopping is a cinch thanks to two power-assisted Wilwood calipers, two power-assisted GM calipers and four drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by a series of 2.5-inch pipes, which swirl spent gases through a Hedman crossover and polished Magnaflow mufflers. At the front of the car, modern power steering complements Hotchkis coil springs, KYB Gas-a-Just shocks and a beefy Hotchkis sway bar. At the back of the car, a factory-style suspension mixes high quality subframe connectors with Hotchkis leaf springs and two more KYB Gas-a-Just shocks. And torque melts the pavement thanks to polished Rushforth wheels, which spin 245/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 redlines in front of 285/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 redlines.
A NICE PLACE TO BE
Behind the car's solid-closing doors you'll find a flashy red interior that wraps a simple, distraction-free driving experience in a balanced combination of class and convenience. At the front of the cockpit, a thoughtfully modified dash hangs Dakota Digital VHX telemetry beside Vintage Air climate control and a Kenwood CD player. A 2-tone console centers a sweet TKO shifter between tall SCAT Procar seats. In front of the driver, a leather-wrapped Concept To Reality steering wheel laps a modern, tilting column. Behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered trunk features a small fire extinguisher. And first class detailing abounds, from the car's quality Dynamat insulation to its snazzy remote start.
This awesome Camaro represents creative engineering at its very finest, combining proven, old school, design with reliable, high-level performance. Looking for a choice pony car that'll be fun on the street and at the show? Here's your next classic!
