Description

What happens when you take a '33 Ford body, bolt it to a Total Cost Involved chassis, drop in a ZZ4 crate engine and pile on a list of mind-blowing mods? You get one superb street rod that instantly becomes the center of attention wherever it goes! Wrapping a traditionally clean appearance in a level of detail that requires multiple looks to fully comprehend, this incredible coupe is a choice compilation of top-notch components from some of the biggest names in the business. And what's better: it's a fully sorted, professionally finished cruiser that was built, above all else, to be driven and enjoyed. Want an impressive classic that you can hop in, turn the key and cruise? Here it is!

SLICK AS GLASS

Professionally finished in late 2010 by Dalton, Georgia's Janow's Custom Rods, this Ford's Rat's Glass body is the kind of profile that would turn heads in primer. So, what better way to ensure sore neck muscles than adding vivid paint and traditional-style mods? Bright Red 2-stage kicks off with an original '33 Ford grille, which, finished in Satin Black, deeply contrasts fiberglass Rat's Glass fenders. Between those fenders, stainless-trimmed headlights reflect a 3-piece hood, which flows to a chopped and tinted greenhouse. At sides of that glass, shaved suicide doors swing polished mirrors, which reflect widened running boards and widened rear fenders. And those fenders push polished Blue Dot Taillights past a polished fuel filler and a shaved trunk that's been pinstriped to match the aforementioned bonnet.

CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE

Fold that steel bonnet and you'll find out exactly where tradition ends and muscle begins! Sourced directly from Chevrolet Performance, this coupe's spry personality comes courtesy of a 350 cubic inch ZZ4 crate engine that twists stout 10 to 1 compression into 355 horsepower and 405 lb./ft. of torque. The mean motor's energy mixture is supplied by Barry Grant Tri-power induction, which sandwiches three Demon carburetors between polished air cleaners, a liquid-filled Russell pressure gauge and a polished intake. That intake feeds aluminum L98 cylinder heads that hang polished and painted valve covers between stamped rocker arms, color-keyed breathers and hypereutectic pistons. That valvetrain combusts thanks to a forged, internally-balanced crank, powdered connecting rods and a billet roller cam. Fire for that combustion comes courtesy of a hot Mallory points distributor and loomed Taylor plug wires. A Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine drive spins a polished Powermaster alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. And a quick-spinning puller fan cools a big radiator while spent gases cycle through coated block hugger headers.

TOP NOTCH FROM THE GROUND UP

Under this impressive custom, a Holeshot 2000 converter kicks a stainless-trimmed B&M Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed, which jolts a Currie 9-inch axle. That proven pumpkin pushes a full Total Cost Involved chassis, which seats spry coil-over-shocks in polished control arms. Turns are tight thanks to modern rack-and-pinion steering. Safety is greatly improved by polished calipers and body-matched drums, which make excellent use of Wilwood proportioning and modern power-assist. A high-octane soundtrack is provided by Flowmaster Hushpower mufflers, which are threaded into coated, Mandrel-bent tubes. And at the corners of the car, polished Billet Specialties Legacys spin polished knock-offs inside 195/65R15 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As and 275/65R16 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.

CUSTOM AND COMFORTABLE

Inside this awesome coupe, class is the name of the game as tasteful Charcoal leather creates a stylish complement to the car's vivid paint. Pop the doors and you'll find a deep Glide bench that's both firm and supportive. Front and center, quality Ron Francis wiring illuminates clean Classic Instruments telemetry next to modern climate control. Below the dash, a short console falls on rich carpet, which is protected by piped and color-keyed floor mats. Sculpted panels hang slim armrests in front of modern power windows. Bluetooth-compatible JVC audio keeps the tunes pumped. And in front of the driver, a tilting Ididit column hangs a polished Billet Specialties wheel in front of a Classic Instruments knee-knocker tach.

Since so many enthusiasts are now focused on building overly ostentatious or overtly rusty customs, this somewhat traditional Ford isn't exactly something you'll see at every show. That said, its brilliant paint, fully-polished wheels and timeless presence are sure to get you noticed no matter where you go. After all, is there anything better than a 2-person crowd-gatherer that barks through a big V8 and stares through one of the most recognizable automotive profiles of all time? We think not! Call us up and pick up your turn-key hot rod.
