In a world where life literally changes in an instant, it's nice to have things that endure. Products we can confide in, and memories that last a lifetime. That's the magic of the American truck. The basic formula has been the same for decades and, despite virtually unlimited interpretations of that formula, the result remains stalwart and steadfast. A truck is something you and your family can depend on in times of need. It's something you and your family make memories in, whether through new adventures or the same old grind. And ultimately, it's something that will always have value. An honest, tasteful build that's full of traditional character, this 1972 C10 is a well-priced classic that's ready to be your rock. Slide behind the wheel and see why trucks will ALWAYS be America's number one form of transportation!
A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY
Fully sorted and ready to roll, this super cool Chevy is the beneficiary of a detailed, body-off restoration that ensured good reliability and great aesthetics. Under the truck's vivid Metallic Blue 2-stage, an incredibly straight fuselage hangs solid panels that, with the exception of the aforementioned restoration, appear to have led a quiet, drama-free existence. Those panels feature better-than-factory alignment and, when opened and closed, sound solid and function exceptionally well. And fresh factory trim is complemented with details like a polished fuel cap, polished mirrors and glossy, stainless-trimmed bed planks.
In the '70s, trucks were all about comfort and utility – not DVDs, wireless and navigation systems. That's why it's so refreshing to hop in the cab of this purposeful but nicely appointed C10. The star of the show is a Blue Houndstooth bench that definitely ups the style quotient. In front of that bench, a color-keyed dash hangs rebuilt telemetry, complete with a factory tach, next to a factory radio and modern air conditioning. The driver carves curves through a factory steering wheel. And fade-free carpet joins a tight headliner and pliable door panels to round out the details.
A LITTLE BIT ROCK AND ROLL
Pop the hood and you'll find a reliable, 350 cubic inch Chevrolet small block that's been paired to a lightweight Edelbrock intake. Revs are created when a tasteful single-snorkel air cleaner floats wind into a familiar Quadrajet carburetor. Chevy Orange valve covers hang polished oil caps and a polished Mr. Gasket breather above factory exhaust manifolds. A modern HEI distributor shoots spark through thick Taylor plug wires. Traditional V-belts spin an aluminum water pump between a modern AC compressor, a Remy alternator and modern power steering. And a beefy radiator plays well with a large pulley fan. Despite being a thoroughly massaged piece, the mill looks right at home in the truck's Gloss Black engine compartment. And details like a fresh brake booster and stainless fluid lines mix first-rate looks with first-rate functionality.
Slide under this rig and you'll find a solid undercarriage that's nice enough to covet and tough enough to cruise. The floors wear Metallic Blue 2-stage, which looks great against Satin Black chassis components. At the center of those bones, a familiar Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed funnels torque through a tough 12-bolt axle. Fluid power steering makes quick work of turns while power-assisted discs and drums bring everything to a quick halt. The aforementioned manifolds dump spent gases in to aluminized pipes, which employ Flowmaster dual-chamber mufflers. And everything rolls on second generation Chevrolet Rally Wheels, which spin Firehawk Indy 500s.
When it comes to style, durability and sheer Americana, nothing beats a classic pickup. And thanks to a high quality restoration, this solid C10 wraps a reliable drivetrain in a highly capable chassis and timeless aesthetics.
