Ground Up Built Pro-Touring Barracuda 586hp 6.1L HEMI V8 5-spd XV Suspension A/C
In a hobby that's chock full of numbers-matching time capsules and show-stopping customs, it's always nice to see a tasteful muscle car that's as tough as it is timeless. A head turning road rocket, this superb 'Cuda has been completely restored, fitted with 6.1 liters of Indy Street Legend Hemi and wrapped in stunning blue and black aesthetics. If you're searching for a broad-shouldered MoPar classic that wraps killer performance in outstanding good looks, check out this exceptional E-Body!
A LITTLE BIT 1970, A LITTLE BIT 1971
The product of a detailed, ground-up build that rang up to just over $380K, this solid coupe wears an impressively straight fuselage that's been massaged to better-than-factory alignment. The car's crisp 2-stage shines under fresh bumpers, color-keyed mirrors, a Gloss Black Go Wing and a 1971 front-clip. Traditional Hemi 'Cuda touches are reinterpreted through a Gloss Black Shaker, a Gloss Black valance and painted Hemi Banners. And today, one close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest Plymouth resto-mods on the planet!
586 HORSEPOWER AT 5,900 RPMS
The modern “HEMI' lettering on this 'Cuda's clean Shaker hints at 6.1 liters of modern Hemi power. That said, even hints can be deceiving, as this hot six-one certainly isn't an assembly line transplant. Sourced from Indy Cylinder Head, this $24K Street Legend Hemi was still climbing the power curve when its builder cut the dyno at 5,900 RPMs. The result was an engine that, although it topped out at 586 horsepower and 530 lb./ft. of torque on paper, could very well be a 600 horsepower mill. At the top of the professionally assembled motor, dual Edelbrock 4-barrels, flowing 600cfm each, dump air and fuel into a lightweight aluminum intake. That intake feeds CNC-ported heads, which stack body-matched valve covers on chromoly pushrods, Manley Beehive springs and titanium retainers. Beneath those heads, a Comp hydraulic roller cam helps create stout 10.3 to 1 compression. That compression gets sparked by pliable FireCore wires, which are sequenced to hot MSD ignition. Spent gases exit through stainless long-tube headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a custom, double-pass Performance Rod & Custom radiator, which is teamed with two SPAL puller fans. Lubrication is provided by a high performance Melling oil pump, which siphons a deep Milodon pan. And the car's body-matched engine bay looks great under billet hood supports.
POWER AND ATHLETICISM
Behind that premium engine, body-matched floors center a tough SFI scattershield in front of a modern Tremec 5-speed. That transmission kicks a spry Dana 60 rear axle that's finished with a Sure Grip differential and big, 3.73 gears. That drivetrain pushes a full XV Racing suspension that cages quality Hyperco coil-overs in beefy sway bars. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Hydratech-boosted Baer calipers cinch a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors to manage speed. There's a pair of welded subframe connectors that ensure the massaged Hemi isn't at odds with the car's menacing body. A thrill-inducing soundtrack fills ceramic-coated, large-diameter pipes that thread coated Magnaflow mufflers. And at the corners of the chassis, handsome Fikse wheels spin 275/35ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 295/35ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As.
CUSTOMIZED COMFORT
Open this E-Body's solid doors and you'll find an attractive leather interior that's blessed with just the right amount of modification. Tall bucket seats join a factory bench in stretching sturdy RJS harnesses across full power adjustment for the driver and front passenger. In front of those thrones, a leather-wrapped dash hangs familiar Auto Meter telemetry in a carbon fiber instrument panel, which looks great above modern air conditioning and modern Kenwood audio. Below that dash, fade-free carpet floats 'Cuda-themed floor mats around a Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter. At the sides of that rug, upgraded door panels seat monochromatic Clarion kick speakers in front of power-operated windows. The driver spins an elegant, Barracuda-branded steering wheel around a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a clean trunk anchors massive Kenwood subwoofers between requisite Kenwood amplifiers.
The true beauty of a classic car is that it can be anything you want it to be. Love original lines, but want a little more substance? Looking for some killer metal that'll wow crowds AND tear up the roads? Here it is, no compromises, no disclaimers and no excuses!
