Frame Off Restored 210 Wagon Restomod 383 Stroker V8 Automatic Air Conditioning
The automotive scene can be a fickle place. Trends come, go, fizzle and sometimes even cycle back under the guise of “retro”. While many builders strive to create cars that offer the flavor of the day, others use calculated observation to transform premier classics into timeless hot rods. This clean 210 features plenty of modern must-haves, like air conditioning, disc brakes and a smooth 700R4 4-speed. But items like a lowered suspension, a buff stroker motor and a hearty audio system certainly underscore the fact that the car marches to its own beat. So, if you're looking for a razor-sharp resto-mod that's ready to attract big crowds and big trophies, here it is!
Sure, this brilliant Turquoise pigment wasn't in Chevy's guns back in 1955, but that dazzling 2-stage certainly looks the part on this awesome 210! Thanks to their killer curves, members of the Bel Air family really lend themselves to glossy skin. And this wagon's refreshing 2-tone works perfectly with fresh chrome and new glass to reflect clean, retro-chic aesthetics. At the front of the car, a guarded bumper protects IPF headlights, clear parking lamps and a polished grille. At the top of that grille, a Chevrolet-branded hood bends around a familiar jetbird topper, leading the eye to a factory-tint greenhouse that's founded in polished frames and opposing RainGear wipers. At the base of that glass, classy “Chevrolet” scripts lead traditional door handles, which complement polished speed spears and a short antenna. And at the back of the car, a second guarded bumper frames LED tail lamps, a polished tailgate handle and a second colorful crest.
Pop this Chevy's peaked hood and you'll find 383 cubic inches of stroked small block bliss. Oxygen enters the combustion chambers through a polished K&N air cleaner, which balances a trick bowtie spinner on a reusable filter element. A big Holley carburetor gasses a polished Edelbrock intake, which is bolted to hot Vortec heads that are finished with Crane Gold Race Extruded roller rocker arms. At the back of those heads, a reliable MSD distributor sequences MSD 6AL ignition between an MSD Blaster coil and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Below those wires, coated long-tube headers help create a constant stream torque. That torque originates with a GM crank, which pushes 6-inch Scat rods and Speed Pro flat top pistons under a Comp Xtreme Energy hydraulic roller cam and Comp Xtreme Energy hydraulic roller lifters. Charge comes courtesy of a fluid GM serpentine drive, which spins lucid power steering beneath a modern AC compressor and a modern alternator. A screened aluminum radiator flows coolant past a trick ThermoCap, a big electric puller fan and a polished expansion tank. And the 4-bolt mill is flashed in bright Chevy Orange paint, which contrasts well against a color-keyed firewall and clean, Satin Black fenders.
Combining a sturdy factory chassis with 2-inch drop spindles, this 210 provides a ride that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of that Satin Black skeleton, a smooth 700R4 4-speed funnels torque to a rebuilt GM axle that's finished with 3.55 gears and a posi-traction differential. Stops come courtesy of a Master Power Brakes power disc conversion, which utilizes a fresh booster to cinch two calipers up front and two drums out back. Spent gases exit through aluminized pipes, which center an X-shaped crossover in front of throaty Flowmaster mufflers. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on polished Intro Hammers, which spin 225/35ZR19 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 255/35ZR20 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.
Open this wagon's doors and you'll find a gorgeous vinyl cockpit that was sourced directly from Cars 1nc. Top dead center, a 2-tone dash floats a familiar Alpine head unit between a modern clock, modern air conditioning and sedate Classic Instruments telemetry. Beneath that dash, billet foot pedals join TREO Engineering kick speakers in leading slick Daytona Carpet to broad bench seats. In front of the driver, a billet, bowtie-branded steering wheel laps a tilting Flaming River column. And behind the passengers, a fully upholstered hatch seamlessly integrates three more crisp TREO Engineering speakers.
Thanks to Chevrolet's virtually unmatched popularity, the market is full of great tri-fives. But this super sweet wagon manages a near perfect balance of road-going prowess and show-stopping aesthetics. Don't waste six figures and three years trying to build a classic this nice. Call RK Motors Charlotte, sign the papers on this killer 210 and make 2019 a summer to remember!
