Ground Up Restored Charger R/T Restomod 440 V8 Auto A/C Upgraded Suspension
Want some incredible MoPar muscle? Want it in a package that doesn't require red ropes and a car bubble? Well, as the old saying goes: “Car culture starts where the assembly line stops”. And now that more and more Hemi-powered MoPars are being confined to private collections, enthusiasts are filling the void with creations like this awesome Charger resto-mod. The beneficiary of a professional restoration, this sweet coupe wraps 440 cubic inches of professionally massaged big block in timeless red and black aesthetics. If you've always dreamed of owning first-class MoPar muscle, but don't want the inherent stress that comes with collector-grade muscle, here's the perfect solution!
RED/TWO
This authentic Charger R/T prowls the boulevard as a highly appealing resto-mod that's clean, mean and ready to roar! The car's solid body was professionally stripped and rebuilt by Raleigh, North Carolina's B-Mac's Auto Restoration. That recent rebirth, has logged a mere 300 miles of road time. And today, this Dodge shines as an ultra-straight, fully detailed pavement pounder that inspires comments and elicits stares every time it hits the road.
At the front of the car's racy red 2-stage paint, a silver-trimmed grille hangs a canted “R/T” script above a broad bumper and crystal clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, a sculpted hood leads the eye to polished wipers, which reflect polished trim and a complete roster of fresh glass. Below that hood, a boxed profile hangs traditional door handles and familiar Chrysler mirrors above new wheel lips, an ornate fuel filler and stylish marker lamps. And at the back of the car, a sporty deck stripe highlights bright exhaust tips, a second broad bumper and a Satin Black valance that centers flowing “Charger R/T” branding between jet-inspired taillights.
440+
Pop the hood and you'll find 440 cubic inches of polished and poised big block that was professionally rebuilt during the car's restoration. At the top of the Jet Black mill, a polished air cleaner dumps wind through a coated Holley carburetor, which is propped on a choice Edelbrock aluminum Victor 440 intake. That intake plays well with lightweight Edelbrock aluminum Performer RPM heads, which tilt polished Mopar Performance valve covers under polished MoPar breathers. At the front of those heads, a hot distributor sequences spark between an MSD Blaster 2 coil and loomed Moroso Ultra 40 Race Wires. Pliable V-belts spin a Sanden AC compressor and a quality Edelbrock water pump between coated long-tube headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a big aluminum radiator and two SPAL puller fans. And everything, from the car's polished master cylinder to the mill's deep Moroso oil pan, looks great inside a clean, body-matched engine bay.
GOOD MADE BETTER
Behind the upgraded 440, a cooled A727 3-speed twists a tough Chrysler 8.75-inch axle. That drivetrain rides a fully rebuilt suspension, which centers an upgraded crossmember between a beefy sway bar, tubular control arms and modern double-adjustable coil-over-shocks. Turns are tightened by upgraded power rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are greatly improved by power-assisted Wilwood calipers, which squeeze drilled and slotted discs at all four corners. Exhaust rolls from large-diameter pipes to an H-shaped crossover and throaty Flowmaster mufflers. And at the corners of this Charger's over-restored floors, chrome Magnum 500 wheels spin 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.
RETRO MADE RESTO
Inside this awesome Dodge, upgraded upholstery hugs factory bucket seats that are complimented by 3-point safety belts. In front of those thrones, a squared dash hangs upgraded Dakota Digital VHX telemetry next to Vintage Air conditioning and an amplified Pioneer head unit. Plush carpet joins a tight headliner to frame factory side panels, which split the difference between big kick speakers and smooth power windows. The driver commands the automatic transmission through a traditional shifter, which surfs an attractive factory console. And turns are matched by a factory steering wheel.
Rare collector cars are great, but classics like this buff Charger resto-mod are what make our hobby so much fun! A fully sorted street fighter that can be driven for years to come, this coupe is an easy way to relive all the glory of the golden age of Detroit.
