Awesome Styleline Street Rod LS1 V8 Automatic PS PB A/C Custom Leather
When you think the words “different” and “Chevrolet”, what comes to mind? It's most likely NOT tri-fives, Camaros or Chevelles sitting at the local cruise-in. What about when you think the words “cool” and “Chevrolet”? Well, that's pretty much all classic Chevys, so let's be more specific. What happens when you think “Chevrolet”, “different” AND “cool”? Chances are something akin to this worldly Styleline rolls through your mind. Being an early '50s bowtie, it's certainly different. And being a carefully restored show stopper makes it super cool. But what makes it both different AND cool is the fact that it mixes a proven LS1 with sublime paint, beautiful custom upholstery and an aggressive stance that's wrapped around modern running gear. If you're looking for an awesome weekend cruiser, your classic has arrived. Sign the papers, grab three of your closest friends and head to the nearest car show!
BLACK (BOW)TIE
A fully sorted build that's ready for prime time, this super clean Chevy is the beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that's as solid as the day it rolled out of the paint booth. That acute reboot is bathed in deep black 2-stage, which anchors a raft of carefully rehabilitated brightwork. And that brilliant flash highlights distinctive, retro character which reminds us just how cool vintage metal can be!
Officially jumpstarting the brand's emphasis on affordability AND form, Chevrolet's first-generation Styleline found a solid audience with buyers who wanted more than just utility. For that reason, and GM's willingness to take a few chances with aesthetics, many enthusiasts cite the car as the beginning of Chevy's golden age of design. At the front of this first-class classic, a bold bumper guards a broad, silver-trimmed grille, retro parking lamps and modern, tri-bar headlights. Between those lights, a sleek hood topper shades a classy bowtie header before sweeping toward a smoked and stainless-trimmed greenhouse. That glass, cleared by polished wipers, seats polished vent visors over mirrorless doors, which center pointed trim spears between polished handles, streamlined “DeLuxe” scripts and polished rocker plates. And at the back of the car, clean pontoon fenders hang a polished fuel door guard above a second broad bumper that guards LED tail lamps and an appropriately dressed trunk.
KEEP IT SMALL BLOCK
For many enthusiasts, there's simply no better source of reliable power than GM's storied LS V8. With that in mind, it seems wholly appropriate that this timeless custom would be powered by 5.7 liters of proven Corvette small block! At the front of the car's lightweight LS1, a conical air filter funnels wind in to a Gloss Black intake by way of a billet-trimmed throttle body. Under that “SPECTRE” branded tube, a muted serpentine drive spins modern power steering amid a painted AC compressor and a painted alternator. At the sides of those ancillaries, pliable Duralast Gold plug wires split coated headers and familiar Corvette fuel rail covers. In front of those covers, a hearty aluminum radiator floats between a polished cap and a big electric puller fan. Details like a muted brake booster and trick dipsticks ensure first-class presentation. And the striking red mill is framed in a smooth engine bay that reflects the same glossy 2-stage as the car's elegant body.
KEEP IT MODERN
Naturally, that modern small block precedes a modernized, road-ready chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec frame that's been stiffened with boxed crossmembers. The LS1 spins power through a trusty 4L60E Automatic Overdrive transmission. That transmission drives a modern, 4-link rear-clip, which mixes choice coil-over-shocks with tubular control arms. That clip pushes a modern, independent front-half, which mixes more tubular control arms with more coil-over-shocks. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Solid stops occur when four Wilwood calipers squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Aluminized exhaust pipes spent gases through throaty Xlerator Turbo Mufflers. And all that proven hardware rolls on attractive Billet Specialties blades, which twist two 225/45R18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of two 285/40R20 Nitto NT420s.
FORMAL FUNCTION
Between the doors, a tasteful custom interior features an agreeable mix of black fabric and light gray leather. Modern bucket seats are detailed with subtle stainless hardware and a classy contrasted stitching. A stainless-trimmed dash hangs clean Dakota Digital VHX telemetry above well-integrated hardware for Vintage Air conditioning. A custom, full-length console floats a stylish Lokar shifter behind modern Sony audio. In front of the driver, a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel laps a tilting column and billet foot pedals. And detailing is on-point, with custom, billet-trimmed side panels complementing a custom headliner and a custom-upholstered trunk.
If you're looking for something a little different than a run-of-the-mill cruiser, this awesome street rod is a fantastic choice. Distinctive, comfortable and lovingly restored, it's a lot of fun on the street OR at the show. Few cars make us want to just punch out, grab the keys and hit the Carolina backroads. This Chevy is certainly one of them!
