Ground Up Built Convertible Restomod LS3 V8 6-speed SRIII Chassis A/C Leather
The pro-touring movement, keenly summarized as mixing wicked performance with classic good looks, began gaining popularity about 25 years ago. And today, with technology that continuously blurs the lines between street beast and track king, transforming a storied classic into a technological tour de force has become one of America's favorite pastimes. A super slick showstopper that's been professionally sorted, this awesome Sting Ray combines picture-perfect aesthetics with serious mechanical prowess. And whether you're looking for invigorating performance, a lust worthy parade queen or just a cool car to own and enjoy, it's a great candidate for your next classic!
THE EDGE OF THE BLADE
Massaged to near perfection during a comprehensive, ground-up restoration, this Chevy's solid, no-hit body dons glossy Blade Silver Metallic 2-stage that was cribbed straight from the mighty ZR1. Highlighting the car's timeless lines with unmatched flash, that pigment looks absolutely rich under a racy red Stinger Stripe. At the front of that brilliant accent, triple-plated bumpers bend around a tasteful factory grille, which floats between small, amber parking lamps. Behind that grille, a legendary Stinger Hood fronts tinted LOF glass that's seated between polished frames, polished wipers and quality Haartz cloth. That greenhouse is reflected in a duo of bowtie-stamped mirrors, which complement dressed rockers, traditional door handles and throaty side-pipes. And at the back of the car, two more triple-plated bumpers reflect sporty taillights, a crisp Sting Ray emblem and a color-keyed fuel filler.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE
Check this Corvette's body-matched engine bay and you'll find 6.2 liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376/480, that hot crate engine twists respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 495 factory horses and 473 lb./ft. of gravel pummeling torque. At the front of the block, polished, Spectre-capped tubes bend wind in to a factory throttle body, which feeds a lightweight GM intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which ride under attractive Corvette rail covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A hot hydraulic roller cam spins smooth under roller trunnion rockers. Speaking of breathing, the aluminum mill funnels spent gases through coated shorty headers. There's a serious Griffin radiator that's slid in front of twinned SPAL puller fans. Polished serpentine components spin a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. And items like braided fluid lines, quality AC Delco plug wires, billet fluid reservoirs and a polished master cylinder detail otherwise purpose-built performance.
NOT STOCK AT ALL
Park this Sting Ray on a lift and you'll find a custom SRIII Motorsports chassis that mixes a spry sixth-generation Corvette ZR1 front suspension with a steady sixth-generation Corvette ZR1 rear suspension. Those bones, lovingly supplemented with ZR1 hubs and QA-1 coil-over-shocks, cage a tough Tremec T56 Tranzilla 6-speed. Kicked by a sixth-generation Corvette LS7 clutch, that gearbox deals power to a spry Winters Quick Change differential, which spins big, 3.70 gears between sixth-generation Corvette ZR1 axles. Turns come courtesy of Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and solid stops are provided by sixth-generation Corvette Z06 brakes, which squeeze 4 and 6-piston calipers around a quartet of drilled rotors. And torque meets the pavement through sixth-generation Corvette Grand Sport-style blades, which spin 275/35ZR18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports in front of 345/30ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
TAMING THE BEAST
Slip into this roadster's sublime, leather-wrapped cockpit and settle on power-operated, sixth-generation Corvette buckets that were finished by interior expert Al Knoch. A bright red dash fashions contrasting dins around Old Air products Hurricane climate control and custom, electronic telemetry. At the base of that dash, a small console frames a booted shifter in front of factory power windows and a fifth-generation Corvette-style waterfall. And the driver spins an attractive Billet Specialties Stiletto steering wheel around billet pedals and a tilting column.
Plenty quick and plenty streetable, this pristine Corvette is an excellent combination of awesome pro-touring performance and timeless Motor City aesthetics. And thanks to its excellent build, this classy roadster is sure to provide an awesome ownership experience. Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and drive away in one bad bowtie!
