This wicked 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger combines top-notch restoration with an extensive list of top-shelf performance modifications to create a no compromises stoplight predator. Let's face it, this beast will likely dust any stock Hemi classic that has the unfortunate fate of crossing its path. And for just $35,900, it's one of the best muscle cars your money can buy!

CHARGER RED DART

Retaining all its original sheetmetal, this tidy Dodge reflects correct Charger Red paint under a dashing Swinger Stripe. Prior to receiving that color, the car's solid profile was straightened and sanded until everything lined up just right. And that smooth canvas was bathed in slick 2-stage pigment that's been buffed to a brilliant shine. At the front of the flash, a swept bumper spans a contoured grille that's finished with traditional lighting. A "DODGE" branded hood founds traditional MoPar power bulges beneath stylish inserts that feature classy “340 FOUR BARREL” banners. A modernist profile, slightly wider than the car's stainless-trimmed greenhouse, stacks swept fender openings and a swept C-pillar around stock door handles and a factory mirror. And at the back of that form, a second swept bumper frames a second "DODGE" script and simple, boxed taillights.

340 / 360 / 408

Who needs a 340 when you can have a 360? Heck, who needs a 360 when you can have a 408?! That's right, this Dodge's 1973 360 was completely disassembled and punched out to a buff 408 cubic inches in a thorough mission to turn a backroad dart into a stoplight missile! 750cfm of Holley 4-barrel grabs air through a chrome filter while sipping fuel from braided fluid lines that are finished with a liquid-filled pressure gauge. That explosive combination of oxygen and fossils falls through an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake into original MoPar X heads, which have been carefully ported and fully rebuilt with Comp Cams springs and MoPar rockers. Fuel gets sparked by hot MSD 6AL ignition, which sequences an MSD coil with an MSD distributor and MSD Super Conductor plug wires. 10.6 to 1 compression gets cooked into 475 horsepower and 470 lb./ft. of torque with the help of forged Ross pistons, a cast SCAT crank, forged I-Beam rods and a Comp Extreme Energy cam. If that somehow isn't enough power, there's a Zex nitrous oxide system that's complete with a 10-pound, trunk-mounted storage bottle. A big aluminum radiator fronts an electric fan, double roller timing components and billet pulleys. Spent gases exit through coated TTI long-tubes. And the light blue mill looks great centered in a clean, Charger Red engine bay that's dotted with details like stylish MoPar valve covers and a reliable MoPar master cylinder.

BUILT FOR SPEED

Under the car, a Performance Torque Converter 3500, finished with a 2,300 RPM stall, a 9x11 billet lock up, an 11-inch clutch and a standalone HGM controller, is mounted before a 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed that's held in place by a custom Year One crossmember. That transmission, built by Cope Racing Transmissions, wraps a fully glass-beaded housing around a performance valve body, a Trans-Go TF-2 shift kit and a deep steel pan that's tinged with a billet filter extension. Behind that gearbox, a 3-inch Dynotech driveshaft sends power to an 8.75-inch Dr. Diff axle that's equipped with a Sure Grip differential. Like its drivetrain, this Dodge's tough suspension has been heavily upgraded for added performance and better overall driving characteristics. 1973 A-Body spindles frame Bilstein shocks, Hotchkis control arms, adjustable Hotchkis strut rods, adjustable Hotchkis steering rods and a big Hotchkis sway bar. Out back, a second Hotchkis sway bar cages MoPar drop springs, two more Bilsteins and Hotchkis subframe connectors. Turns come courtesy of a Flaming River steering box. Stops come courtesy of a 4-wheel disc brake upgrade using 11-inch Wilwood front rotors. A nice soundtrack is provided by 3-inch TTI X-pipe exhaust. And polished Weld Prostars press power to the pavement.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Inside the car, a restored vinyl interior is in spectacular shape. Comfy bench seats look great sailing clean carpet and Dodge-themed floor mats. An original dash centers a correct radio delete above an Auto Meter 'knee knocker' tach and Auto Meter accessory gauges. Glossy door toppers are an excellent complement to pick-free side panels. And a floor-mounted B&M shifter engages the fun while the driver grips a correct steering wheel.
