Description

There are two guaranteed ways to stop traffic with a classic Camaro. You can take the traditional path and buy a highly optioned original car that's fit for a plastic bubble. Or, you can pick up an old road warrior, grab a bunch of vendor catalogs and build the nastiest stoplight slayer your money can buy! Take this Pro Street coupe for example. Combining sinister swagger with a custom chassis and 427 cubic inches of brutal Chevrolet big block, this fantastic F-Body was made to prowl the pavement and dominate the show! And if you've always wanted to build a classic that makes big power, possesses unbeatable aesthetics and oozes timeless Americana, it's your exclusive opportunity to save years of stress and bundles of cash. Why postpone joy? Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and become the proud new owner of a jaw-dropping F1!

BAD IN BLACK

If your goal is to build a world-class custom, the first-generation Camaro is a great place to start. This classic's exceptional build, completed by the pros at Traphill, North Carolina's Stone Mountain Automotive, took the sublime angles of a '69 coupe and tailored them into an acute jaw-dropper that commands major respect. The car's solid body, comprised of original and GM New Old Stock sheetmetal with the exception of its fiberglass hood, has been lovingly coated in silky black two-stage. That rich pigment bends well around stretched quarters that wear custom wheel lips. And glossy white Rally Stripes feel both fresh and familiar.

The visuals start to sizzle with a familiar Rally Sport grille, which floats a clean “Z/28” emblem above a guarded bumper, Rally Sport parking lamps and a traditional D80 chin spoiler. Above that grille, a Camaro-branded header leads a tall Cowl Induction Hood, which shades a wiperless cowl that's reflected in stainless-trimmed GM New Old Stock glass. At the sides of that hood, a sculpted profile flashes factory markers, factory louvers and crisp fender badging between factory handles, factory mirrors and straight rocker trim. And at the back of the car, a second D80 spoiler shades a second “Z/28” emblem, a full suite of Rally Sport taillights and a second guarded bumper.

L88 427 AND THEN SOME

You really can't go wrong with Chevrolet power. Especially when it's big block power. ESPECIALLY when that big block is a Junior Johnson & Associates L88 427 that, on 110 race fuel, twists hearty 12.5 to 1 compression into roughly 700 horsepower! The show starts with a polished K&N XStream air cleaner, which feeds a bright Holley 1050 carburetor that's wired with stainless lines, Russell hoses, an AED pressure gauge and Barry Grant regulators. That pot, custom-built by Carb Shop, drops fossils into a polished Weiand Team G intake that's reflected in mirrored valve covers. Those shrouds cap lightweight Brodix heads that are built with Crane rockers and Isky lifters. Below those lifters, a balanced and blueprinted rotating assembly makes the best of a custom Isky solid roller cam. At the back of that cam, a hot MSD distributor sequences spark through sleeved and loomed Accel Ferro-Spiral Race Wires. Jet-Hot-coated Hedman Husler Hedders jettison spent gases into throaty side-exit exhaust. Billet pulleys spin a polished alternator next to a polished Weiand water pump. A beefy aluminum radiator keeps everything cool with the help of sleeved tubes, quick SPAL puller fans and a polished expansion tank that's finished with a small Summit temp gauge. A polished Moroso oil accumulator keeps the engine safe. There's a full NOS Pro Shot Fogger system that, with electronics and a cam swap, is capable of adding a quick 400 horsepower. Naturally, the car's massaged engine bay is fully detailed, with polished brace bars complementing chromed hood hardware and Chevy Orange block skin. And niceties like polished caps, trick dipsticks, a billet thermostat housing, polished Moroso diff breathers and a snazzy, bowtie-branded block-off plate ensure this show worthy beast has the acute detail to back its great mechanical ability.

THE CUSTOM IN THE CUSTOM

Bottom-side, custom-fabricated floors shade a proven Chevrolet chassis that's been tweaked, modified and strengthened as needed. At the center of those bones, a 5,000 RPM Coan Engineering stall kicks a built Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed. That transmission, equipped with a custom, two-fan cooler, spins a narrowed and braced 9-inch axle that was sourced directly from Mark Williams Enterprises. That proven pumpkin pushes a polished, 4-link rear-clip that's finished with adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. That clip gets led by a factory front-half that's upgraded with a polished sway bar, polished control arms and two more adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Manual turns come courtesy of a familiar Saginaw steering box. Stops are provided by a quartet of Wilwood discs. A killer soundtrack thunders through Jet-Hot-coated pipes that are finished with electronic, fob-activated cutouts. Rolling stock is equally impressive, as 15-inch Weld Pro Star wheels spin 26x8.50 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans in front of 33x19.50 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pros. And choice details include braided hoses, a polished flywheel cover and a polished oil pan.

CUSTOM CLASSIC STYLE

As expected, the custom leather interior hiding behind this Chevy's tight doors is equal parts style and substance. Everything begins at a factory dash that's retrofitted with tidy toggles and a full suite of AutoMeter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite telemetry. Hi-back buckets stretch pliable leather under five-point Simpson camlock safety harnesses. Those harnesses are secured by custom billet brackets, which are rooted to a body-matched roll bar that highlights polished and billet-trimmed nitrous tanks. Plush carpet founds a B&M Pro Ratchet shifter and a polished Amerex fire extinguisher to the right of billet foot pedals. Billet handles dot custom side panels, which are sculpted to mimic the car's optional factory quarter louvers. In front of the driver, a trick Billet Specialties steering wheel laps an AutoMeter Pro RPM Shift Light. And the car's trunk has been carefully repurposed for a small fuel cell and dual batteries.

From its slick aesthetics to its trick mechanicals, this spectacular Camaro packs BIG performance in a legendary wrapper. The car's lethal combination of power and prestige creates the perfect recipe for one highly desirable classic. Why not have it all, right now, in a lights-out custom that's ready to own the show?
