Description

The Nissan 350Z has spent the past nine years rebuilding its legacy as the proper sports car for everyman. With relatively compact dimensions, rear-wheel drive, two seats, a muscular engine and sharp handling, the 350Z provides an excellent platform for driver enjoyment at a price that the average person can afford. This one owner immaculately maintained 2008 350Z Touring is a car that combines everyday reliability with an excellent driving experience.

Looking low, wide, and sinister in Nissans Black Top black, this 350Z has the classic proportions of four generations of Z-cars with cutting edge styling and details that give it a fresh and youthful vibe. At the nose, a chrome, perfectly centered Nissan badge sits above a bold, traditional Z-car grille with horizontal slats. A power dome sculpted hood flows out from the center axis of the car onto flared fenders which emphasize the width of the car, hinting at a tried and true wide body race car look. Intricately detailed projector-beam headlights line up with the arc of the domed hood and are bisected by subtle fender ridges. Those fender ridges start at the windshield and flow forward onto the nose of the car to highlight the flanged vertical marker lights and the aggressive flared fenders. The sides of the car are defined by moderate tumblehome (the narrowing of a design from bottom to top) and creased halfway up the doors by a body line that runs from the front wheel openings to rear wheel openings. Ornamentation and trim is simple with only wind tunnel sculpted mirrors, vertical silver door handles and pristine round, satin finished “Z” emblems on each front fender occupying the sides of the car. The hatch flows into the rear of the car which narrows just enough to emphasize the cars wide rear track and then rounds off into an aerodynamic arc. LED tail lights look as if they're struggling to hold on and complete a body line that begins with the headlights and runs along the tops of the doors. Inset stainless exhaust tips and horizontal reverse lights connect a visual line with the tail lights while a subtle decklid spoiler sits above a second chrome Nissan logo and satin finish “350Z” badge with the same Z design as the fender emblems. The car rides on aftermarket 18 inch front and 19 inch rear forged alloy wheels that look identical to the factory wheels worn by 350Z Touring cars with the only difference being size and a better quality finish. 245/40/18 Bridgestone Potenzas up front are factory correct while the bigger and wider 265/35/19 Bridgestone Potenzas in back resulted in the previous owner having the inner edges of the rear fenders trimmed by a professional body shop. The beefier rolling stock and Black Top paint, which brings out the many bulges, curves, and other interesting details in the original shape, hint at a car that would rather hunt than be displayed.

After 2007, all 350Z cars received the mighty VQ-series 3.5 liter V6 which features 10.1 compression and delivers a stout 306 horsepower and 268lb./ft. of torque. Nissan's goal wasn't to create a drag strip terror, but to develop a chassis that can fully exploit the power that's already there. As a result, it's a durable, reliable dance partner that isn't so high strung that you need to worry about hurting it at the track or during an afternoon of spirited driving. The torque curve is broad, and it screams eagerly to redline without any signs of straining or harshness. Take a peek under the hood and you'll find dual air filter elements that are purely an aural and appearance upgrade and a silver engine cover with the Nissan logo and engine size centered on it. This 350Zs engine bay is spotless and it's obvious that this car has never been used in inclement weather, and definitely not in the winter. Of course, since it spent most of its life in Texas, I doubt it's even seen a winter at all. Bright plated parts remain shiny, the plastic is undamaged by heat or wear, and there's absolutely no evidence of leakage or damage anywhere. I would almost go so far as to say that it is as good as new despite its gentle 27,988 miles.

Underneath the car, that powerful VQ block is backed by Nissan's slick-shifting 6-speed manual, whose well-chosen ratios make the most of the V6's broad power curve. The Touring suspension uses upgraded shocks, springs, and sway bars to plaster the car to the pavement without a big ride comfort penalty. Unique body dampers are designed to reduce vibrations and harshness, while a handful of chassis braces stiffen the body shell for track duty. Massive Brembo disc brakes are fitted at all four corners, addressing a common complaint from Z-car drivers who regularly put their cars on the track. The bigger binders deliver fade-free performance and look simply spectacular with their gold powdercoated calipers and bright red Brembo logos. The sporty sounding exhaust amplifies the smooth V6's soundtrack without droning at cruising speeds like many aftermarket systems. The suspension is where the 350Z truly excels. It's an affordable track ready machine that is just a blast to drive, especially when combined with the upgraded VQ block and its 306 horsepower found in this car.

Open the door and cross over the silver Z-car sill plates into the exceptionally grippy perforated and heated seats. In Nissan's popular Burnt Orange, they add a very cool contrast to the mostly monochromatic appearance of both the interior and exterior of the car. The dash features a silver trimmed and detailed trio of gauges comprising a speedometer, a tachometer and a combination fuel gauge and temperature gauge that ride above a handsome 3 spoke steering wheel with silver trim and a “Z” horn button. Auxiliary gauges atop the center stack remind you of this cars legendary 240Z pedigree while a navigation system just below those gauges reminds you of how far we've come since the 240Z. Below the navigation you'll find a 6 disc CD changer and controls for the Bose sound system right above a silver trimmed 6-speed console shifter. All of the Z's standard features, from A/C and cruise control, to power windows and power seats are included and the interior is as nicely preserved as the exterior, with excellent carpets, door panels trimmed in silver that are like new and seats that show minimal wear. Pop the hatch and you'll find a heavy-duty chassis brace that has been artfully incorporated into the design adding rigidity and simply looking cool with its silver Z-car logo plate. There is even a neat little decal on the hatch that explains in detail how to safely store two golf bags in the cargo area.

Documentation for this car includes the original owner's manual complete with service guide and a warranty booklet, as well as all maintenance receipts from the previous owner including the body shop receipt showing where the fenders were trimmed and hand written items for maintenance performed by the owner.

Immaculately maintained, this Nissan 350Z Touring is like a new car in every way. It excels on twisty two-lanes where its capabilities can be fully exploited and skilled drivers can probe its insanely high limits that make even average drivers look like heroes. Everyone recognizes these cars as something special and they're almost as much fun to show off as they are to drive. Call today!
